Classic Car Overview

Welcome to the most unique MGB you'll ever encounter. The engine has been upgraded with a 1985 Chevrolet S10 2.8L V6, allowing for a much more powerful experience over the stock engine. The gearbox has been upgraded with a T5 Worldclass 5-speed transmission from a '90s Chevrolet Camaro, so highway driving is smoother and more relaxing. Recently upgraded brakes, suspension, soft-top, tonneau cover, alternator, gaskets etc. Currently registered in CA.

Don't get me wrong this is not an easy ride. If you're looking for a cruise around car or aren't confident in driving a manual transmission, this probably isn't for you. You're going to be cranking it in and out of gear, hurling your body around and sweating in the Los Angeles sun. But you're going to be looking sick as hell doing it. Having been lovingly restored a few times over the years, I've personally put countless hours and dollars into this car. But it's still a classic car and it acts like it.

I've owned it for 5 years, spent about $30k all up on purchase and repairs, my last mechanic (who worked for British Leyland in the 80's and works almost exclusively on MGB's in Temecula) said after he made his last fixes that it was in the top 10% of MGB's he's seen on the road. It was my daily driver for over a year between when I sold the Prius and bought a Rav4 to carry film gear because I was sick of having tripods sticking out of the passenger side of the MG. So it's reliable right now for you to start using it daily. Here's a brief history, I've owned it since 2019. The soft-top (which I replaced in 2020) doesn't fit the passenger side door properly, it hangs over the windows, rather than going under. The guys who installed it had no answer and I've just lived with it. There is some play in the custom driveshaft that has always been there, and I've asked a few mechanics how to fix it but they all said the same thing "that's just how it is", which makes a ding noise when the car changes speeds, you'll hear it when you test drive. I just turn up my music to drown it out.

Previous Owner: Pre-2019
Engine & transmission swap, the gps speedo said 5000 miles when I bought it, assuming it was installed when the V6 was installed. I've done 5000 since I've had it so potentially 10,000 miles since it was rebuilt?
Aluminium radiator (if you'd owned MG's before you'll know they are notorious for overheating, and I've never had that issue with this one)
Paint job to "BMW Grey"

Under my ownership:
2019 - Costa Mesa:
Throw-out bearing, clutch kit and fly-wheel replaced

2020 - Costa Mesa:
Replaced gaskets, distributor, timing chain, fixed some oil leaks
Replaced wiring
Replaced soft-top, tonneau cover (at Bill Dunn)
Fixed engine mount

2022 - Temecula:
Re-did brakes, suspension
Fixed steering column
Lowered by 1"

If you like the sound of it, come by and test drive one day and I can show you all it's quirks.

Cheers,
Sam
