LARRY'S LEGEND LIVES

Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.

Classic Car Overview

This is the kind of classic were all on the lookout for. Its a one-owner and highly documented 1972 Ford Mustang Convertible. But a drop-top like this was built to be enjoyed, and so it has been given the right investments along the way - including extra power out of the V8. The 72 Mustang was built to be a true cruiser. It has a long front end, a European-like short rear deck, and a well-creased body line that runs from the headlight through the door. You can see all of this so well because a one-owner car is a kind that gets treated correctly. Thats why the factory-correct Medium Bright Yellow paint is not only believed to be largely original, but also retains a good gloss. And the form-fitting chrome bumpers still have the right shine of distinction. But when you own a car for nearly a half-century youre also going to make the right investments and improvements. It now has a touch of extra sporty style with Mag 500 wheels (the factory wheel covers come with the sale, too,) and the replacement hood that now has sporty scoops. Theres also a newer black convertible top with a glass rear window. And thats whats at the heart of this pony car. It keeps a ton of classic originality, and it also makes sure to be one youll love taking out on the road today. If you like the way the black top looks against the yellow paint, then youll love powering the roof down to reveal the full black interior. Just like the exterior, the inside of this Mustang stays stock in the right places while also getting the right investments. For example, your front bucket seats are more recently refinished. You still have the classic pattern with bright trim inserts, but it has a fresher feel that is what you really want in a drivers classic. There are more upgrades for better cruising, like a cup holder center console and an AM/FM digital tuner w/cassette. And if youre a purist, you can remove the armrest and also re-install the AM radio that comes with the sale. The engine bay has a great story all on its own. A one-owner car like this should have its original motor, but the Ford Racing valve covers and air grabber tell you that this one is far from stock. The consignor had the 302 cubic-inch V8 rebuilt at a professional shop about 10k miles ago. It was done with an eye for power. So it was stroked to 347ci, and now includes an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Flame Thrower ignition, and headers feeding the dual exhaust. And while this was born with an automatic transmission and power steering, it has also been upgraded to front disc brakes to be a more confident cruiser. The sale comes with terrific paperwork, like the dealer invoice, factory buildsheet, warranty card, service manuals, and maintenance records. It all goes to prove that this is a distinct one-owner drop-top that was made to hit the road right now. Call today!!!
