Classic Car Overview
I am selling my 1972 GMC Suburban Project. $6500 Or Best Offer (will also consider trading for a truck).
It has been custom shortened to look more like a Tahoe, which was not made in that body style (1967-1972). This year suburban came in three doors. Front driver and passenger doors, and the rear passenger door. The wheelbase from factory was 127 inches. It is now approximately 118 inches. The factory stock overall length was 215.5 inches. It is now approximately 192". So the entire suburban was shortened approximately 20-23 inches.
I have been working on this project for a few years now and unfortunately cannot complete it. I have spent a lot of money to get it to where it is now. The shop that did the shortening charged me the money to finish the job, but did not follow through. I decided not to keep throwing money at it any longer.
So far the suburban has been shortened, the entire front floor has been replaced, all the rockers have been replaced. Has new front fenders and new hood. I have two new doors. The passenger side door has been installed. The driver door has not been installed so it still has the original door with a little rust on the bottom portion. The new door is there waiting to be installed. The engine is a small block 350 and has been recently serviced with new oil and parts. The transmission was rebuilt around December at Transmissions Plus in Kissimmee, Fl. Has two year warranty. When the shifting mechanism was installed, I noticed a small leak at the shift shaft seal. Truck starts right up.
There is still some metal work needed to be done underneath the rear quarter panels to make it right. That is where the remaining rust is. They would have to be cut out and replaced. The panels need to be lined up. Still needs body work. It has some surface rust from it sitting for a while. I have the rear quarter glass but it needs to be cut to fit the shortened panels. I do have the rear hatch glass and needs to be installed. I do not have the front windshield as the shop broke it during removal. The truck does not come with seats, bumpers, or windshield. I have all the other parts I took out in boxes; lights, guages, misc hardware etc.
