Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Savoy Faire is Everywhere

The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Classic Car Overview

1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo American Comfort, European Handling, they meet in Monte Carlo claimed the advertising for 1972. Ad men were illustrating the cars so they could take liberties with perspective and lengths as well as proportions in these ads, and they did, willfully. Although the customer could make their way to the GM showroom, and under no pressure (sic) make their own decision! For consignment a 1972 version of the Monte Carlo that will need some TLC particularly on the body workings. With dripping paint, some wavy body filler, but no rust, it will require some stripping to be brought back to perfect. Or one could turn the key and drive it away and work on it as a project over time. Either way its all here on the chrome and badging front, and the car runs smoothly. Exterior This 1972 Monte Carlo and it is fairly clean with a few faults in the paint. Placer Gold for this 2-door hardtop, which has had its vinyl top stripped, although, has plenty of nicely preserved chrome trimmings to put this car in a class where it can cut the mustard. An egg crate grille, single headlights, a rear bumper that works with the rear quarter to house the taillights and there is nothing but sweetness from 1972 here on the Classic Auto Mall floor. Not to mention the straight panels and decent gaps, we can serve up plenty for your satisfaction. 15-inch rally wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped in good raised white type rubber all around. Interior Nice black vinyl showing in faux leather formed panels separated by buttons, covers the door panels. A clean door pull and opening handle and armrest are on as well so now we can move to the inside! To add some class is a nicely preserved burl walnut applique dash, complete with all the buttons, knobs and levers for the drivers visual and comfort. A radio with an under mounted CD player is carefully mounted into the dash as well as A/C which consigner states needs charged. Good black carpet flooding the bottom. On top we note a beautifully tight headliner with no marks on it with a large near showroom bench across the back of the car below this headliner. Drivetrain Now blessing the engine bay is a 350ci V8 GM crate motor with a 4-bolt main. A single 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor is atop the nicely repainted orange block and valve covers. Hoses are supple and there is no corrosion to be seen, just a bit of dust. A 3-speed automatic transmission is on back, and a 12-bolt rear is noted. Undercarriage Nice and clean, all black and shiny, and structurally sound underneath. Looks like a new coating of black underneath. Independent coil springs, and 4 link with coil springs are seen. Power disc brakes are on front and power drums on the rear. Drive-Ability A super quick starter, nice driver, smooth runner, good handler, and an overall nice car. Love the Mustard, and black combo as well as all the chrome trimmings they put one back then! Also, a good cruiser and safe stopper. An early 1970s color combo well preserved with a few frowns, but its a turnkey car for sure. A crate engine, and nice interior, and it has all the right stuff.
