Classic Car Overview
This 72 Chevelle Malibu sport coupe was originally purchased by Margerett L Lyseng on August 18th 1972 from Moak Chevrolet of Malby Oregon. Born in 1940 she would have been just 32 when she bought the Sport Coupe. She owned the car until August of 2013 for a total of 41 years of ownership! She obviously loved her car. Her, living in Portland Oregon, she would be 79, 2019.
The car was then purchased by Dale Mathews of Mathews Memory Lane motors in Portland, Ore. Dale was actually the sales person that had sold it to her those many years ago!
This specialty car dealer did a light restoration of the car: New paint in the original colors, some small cosmetic repairs, new vinyl roof and a new exhaust system. The brakes where done at this time also.
The car was then sold by Mecum auctions to the current owner Lenny Warren. Lenny had the radiator serviced and just recently had a complete detail done. The car now lives in a garage and comes out on sunny days to go to the car shows.
The original owner stated that the car always had it’s maintenance done at the dealer and was always garaged.
Other than that this car is truly all original. Numbers matching engine and trans that have never been out of the car.
Amazingly after 49 years the car starts and drives down the road as it did in 72.
The production run for this particular car was only 24,000 with the base 307 engine. Assuming a one in ten survival rate it is most likely a one of 2,400 surviving of it’s production.
This and considering it is a numbers matching untouched engine makes a fairly rare car.
A rebuild-able 454 is available if you want it. It was a runner before we pulled the heads to check out the engine. Was planning to build it and put it in, but decided not to.
