Classic Car Overview

1972 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe For consignment, an anomaly, a rarity, something you just dont see every day...a 1972 Camaro with a mere 15,835 title verified actual miles. Stated to be all original by our consignor with a snappy numbers matching 350ci V8, Flame Orange paint, a basic black vinyl interior, a 3 speed manual, and 14-inch steel wheels with factory covers, you will be able to parade up Main Street while in the back of your mind you will be making money. An investment in the future if you will. Exterior Bathed in the consignor stated original Flame Orange paint this morsel of low hanging fruit remains extra juicy. However, after some examination we have determined the paint to be a respray due to some sanding scratches in the finish and overspray on both door strikers. This aside, the rest of the car has plenty of spit shine left on the steel. The exterior gaps are good, and the panels remain straight. Starting up front with an egg crate V front grille, single headlights and ovoid parking/signal lighting tucked into the roll pan just below. The full length front bumper and its guards are mirror-like, and all trim remains very nicely preserved. Starting in 1970, began the years when GM began to change the design of the Camaro, and blurred the lines between a Camaro and a Pontiac, give a gaze to the front of the car and it will pan out! Not a true beak but certainly features that resemble each other. Nice window trimmings frame the front and rear glass and a thin strip of stainless highlights the base of the door windows. The back of the car lowers in a gentle slope and ends by dropping off to the rear of the car. Think base model...no stripes, no spoilers...just pure Camaro. Bringing up the rear of the car are dual round tail lights and a solid bumper with a dip in the center to frame the bottom of the license plate. A thin stainless and black rubber strip runs mid beltline between the wheel houses and hovers above a Camaro 350 script and polished rocker moldings. 14-inch standard steel wheels with factory wheel covers are wrapped in Hankook radials all from 2022. No runs, no drips, or errors on this beauty. Interior A swing of the doors is akin to a small time travel jaunt allowing us to breathe in the consignor stated originality. The black textured background around the round sunken in gauges are immaculate, and a padded black dash top frames the top. We note the surround may be a replacement as it has no provision for the rear window defogger that is seen on the rear package tray. Moving to the center we note the factory AM radio and above are two air conditioning and heating vents molded into the dash. For the passenger, an under the dash glove box with a shiny Camaro badge. On the carpeted hump between 2 high back buckets covered in vinyl with integral headrests is the standard 3-speed floor shifter. The doors use a similar vinyl pattern too, and look like they came right off the factory floor. Black carpeting covers the floors, and a rear bench, also pristine, occupies the back of the interior, allowing extra guests to experience the thrill ride. A tight black headliner is above and a shout to the trunk with its factory applied splatter paint and original spare. Drivetrain Under the hood in a nicely detailed but lightly patined black painted engine bay is the original 350ci V8. This mill is numbers matching, is fed by a single 2-barrel carburetor and is capable of producing 165hp. Bolted to the back is a numbers matching Saginaw 3-speed manual transmission that sends power to spin the rear tires via a GX stamped 10 bolt, 3.08 gear rear axle. All well preserved and looking exactly the part of a 15,000 mile car. Undercarriage Independent coil springs for the front and for the rear leaf springs. Front disc brakes for this one, and rear drums slow it for the woah. A mix of black undercoating, surface rust and factory Flame Orange paint coats the bottom side of this second generation Mustang killer. Breathe deep, now exhale through the stock replacement single exhaust. Woosh...hold on to the Jesus bar. Drive-Ability Yes! Yes! Yes! It definitely drives, it certainly starts, and it offers up plenty of smiles as we were driving a 51 year old almost new car. Climbing in is quite easy, even for this 63 year young writer, and once in it is comfortable, and all is working well. Definitely an E-ticket ride for this one with nearly no rattles, and all functions operational save for the radio not broadcasting, a noticeable vacuum leak from under the dash, and of course no toggle to actuate the rear defogger. Oh and did I mention, the AC even blows cold. At first glance an original 1972 style Camaro nearly looks pliable, a true grocery getter. But if we dig deeper, there is tons of history in the low low miles and thoughtful care over the years. Cars of this nature were mostly used up, then passed on to teenagers who drove them into the ground or worse. This shining example in our Hallowed Halls has escaped that fate is now here waiting for you, all you need is your checkbook... 1Q87H2N129451 1-Chevrolet Q-Camaro 87-Coupe H-350ci L65 V8 2bbl 165hp 2-1972 N-Norwood, OH Assy Plant 129451-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is a 336,000-square foot classic and special interest automobile showroom, featuring over 850 vehicles for sale with showroom space for up to 1,000 vehicles.
