Classic Car Overview
The 1972 Chevrolet C10 is one of the favorites in the classic truck market. Equipped with the Cheyenne package, this example is more than just a nice looking truck though. It is also a very useful vehicle that runs and drives great; use it every day if you like. Other nice bits include working air conditioning and the original Protect-O-Plate which you don't always find on vehicles from this era.
1972 was the final year for the celebrated second-generation C/K series. This long box was sold new by Don Rypma Chevrolet on 12-20-71. It received Ziebart rustproofing which has contributed to a very sold 53-year-old pickup. It has also been repainted its original two-tone colors of blue and white. Factory equipment includes the new-for-72 Cheyenne trim package which included woodgrain trim, a chrome front bumper, cargo lamp, and special badging. This one also has cab lights and tinted windows along with a wooden bed floor, tonneau cover, modified rear bumper with trailer hitch, and an oversized fuel tank. The 15 wheels wear 235/75 tires from 2015.
The engine is the original TDJ-code 350ci V8. Updates include an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and HEI ignition. It also has a matching air cleaner and valve covers. The transmission is a TH350 automatic which had a fluid and filter change in 2024. Other equipment includes power steering and power brakes which have been converted to DOT-5 brake fluid. Recent work includes new brake hoses along with rear shoes and wheel cylinders.
The blue interior is centered around the recovered bench seat with belts for three occupants. The door panels look sharp with the Cheyenne woodgrain inserts while the dashboard is classic Chevrolet. An aftermarket gauge set has been installed and an old CB handset bracket remains on the dashboard. All lights and signals work properly as do the horn, wipers, washers, heater, and defroster. The R134a air conditioning blows cold and received a new compressor in 2024. An aftermarket steering wheel is present along with a Pioneer stereo. Finally, the original manual and warranty book with Protect-O-Plate are included.
This is indeed a sharp truck with some great features and represents one of the best C/K generations. But it is also a nice driving unit that can still get things done. Its part of what makes the classic truck market so special.
