Classic Car Overview

1971 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow The 1950s marked the start of a long-standing relationship between Rolls-Royce and the royal family. Replacing Daimler as the preferred motor car supplier to the British monarchy, Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth took delivery of the first Phantom IV in 1950. Designed exclusively for royalty and heads of state, Phantom IV is one of the rarest Rolls-Royce motor cars in the world, with only 18 ever built. For consignment a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. This car is a 4-door, long wheelbase saloon, with left hand drive. The odometer shows 21,108 miles, however this cannot be confirmed or verified by the consigner. Exterior Due to the nature of custom ordering special color schemes to personalize your car, exact colors are not known, so generic colors will be used in this description. This Silver Shadow sports the standard saloon two tone color pattern, in Dark Blue below the belt line, and silver above. A Dark Blue padded vinyl top is seen in lieu of any paint on the roof of this car. The panels are fairly straight overall, and paint appears in good condition. A fair amount of rust damage presents itself on both rocker panels, as it has rusted through. Chrome is in good condition, and grille is clean and no pitting. The Spirit of Ecstasy is atop the grille. Some edges of the panels show where the respray does not cover completely if one looks closely. Paint bubbling can be seen near and around the roofline. Interior Light blue posh leather buckets are noted up front, and present in fair condition. A rear bench with ample leg room is across the rear of the passenger compartment. The buckets flank a center console with padded vinyl sides, an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player, and various switches and toggles which are in a field of burl veneer. The finish on the veneer is orange peeling and shows some scratching. The padded burl dash front houses several gauges, and shows some cracking in the finish as well, however gauges and bezels are in good condition. Fronting the dash is the original steering wheel, which shows some paint chipping. Door panels covered in matching blue leather are in good condition, and one can spot toggle switches for power windows in the panels. Carpeting is in overall good condition and shows some staining on the drivers side floor. Headliner is in very nice condition. Drivetrain A 189hp 6.75 Liter V8 power plant, coupled to a General Motors-sourced Turbo Hydramatic 400 automatic gearbox, pushes the car smoothly down the road. Undercarriage Noted again the rocker panel damage from rust. Remainder of underside is clean and rust-free excepting minor surface rust. 4-wheel disc brakes are seen, as well as an exhaust system thats in good condition. Overall a fair to mostly good condition car that will need some rust remediation. A test drive of this car showed quick starting, smooth shifting, and overall great smooth ride, and comfortable interior.
