The first owner was Kenneth Wyburn of Seattle, Washington. Ken had a Ph. D. in Mathematics from Cornell and his JD from Stanford. He was a tax attorney and partner for a large firm in the San Francisco area. He ended up owning this 911 for the majority of its life until he passed away in June of 2022. His wife kept the car for a year after that.
Ken put nearly 81k miles on the car during his care. Early on, he enjoyed working on the car himself with the help of a friend. Sometime in the 1980s, he and his friend rebuilt the engine together and upgraded to Weber carburetors. However, he kept the rest of the engine stock. In 1974, he moved to Northern California and began servicing the car at Heyer Performance, where he continued to service the car for the rest of the familys ownership. Unfortunately, most of the 30 years of service receipts from Heyer were lost after Kens passing. His wife did find the most recent service on 3/20 @ 79,300 miles, which included:
Disassemble shifter assembly
Replace ball cup bushings
Valve adjustment
Distributor cap and rotor
Replace all valve covers
Torque heads and adjust valves
Install turbo tie rod end kit
Remove heat exchangers
Replace oil return tubes
Replace throttle bushings on transmission
Exhaust manifold gaskets
Reseal breather area
4 wheel alignment
Total service: $4,201
The year prior (3/19), Ken had a $10,676 service at Heyer, which we believe was possibly rebuilding the transmission with a new clutch kit.
The current Los Angeles area owner purchased this survivor 911 from Kens wife on March 13th, 2023, with 80,979 miles. For the past 3 years, this enthusiast has only added 1,600 miles, but has had considerable service and upgrades. Recent work performed includes:
RSA door panel kit (not installed)
Restored 15×6 Fuchs w/center caps dated 1973*
Available for purchase separately
Purchased by owner on 5/23 for $5,911

Upon receipt of the car, we had the following performed by our local independent Porsche specialist and our detailer:
New trunk carpet kit

Fresh oil service

Steam clean engine and underside
Professional touch up paint on all the flaws
Hand clean/steam the interior
Careful wax/detail paint

Source, repair, and mount factory expandable rear door panel pockets
The exterior of this 911 is in survivor condition, with much of it still original. The paint shows decades of use with plenty of rock chips, dents, and scratches, which add to the patina. We checked the paint with a paint meter, and it appears that the right side of the car was repainted many decades ago, and the job was fair. About half the car appears to still be possibly wearing much of its original paint. The glass is in good shape with no major chips, cracks, or scratches, and is wearing the proper factory stampings. The brightwork trim is in good shape and also appears to be original. The headlights were upgraded to H4 European ones sometime in the 1980s (possibly when paintwork was done). The factory 15 steel wheels with stainless hubcaps come with the car. They are in good condition and wearing older Continental tires. The 15×6 Fuchs* pictured were recently restored and are in near-perfect condition. They are available for purchase separately. The brakes are at near full life and have recently been serviced.
The interior is equally as original and further validates the low mileage as well as the care this 911 received. The front seats are nearly new and custom-specified by this owner. They are reproductions of early Recaro sport buckets. They are mounted to new sliders. They are set to max leg room for someone no taller than 6. They can be adjusted to fit most any height person. The original flat/comfort seats are included with the car. They are unrestored/original, and some of the seam stitching has come apart. The rear seat backs were recently removed along with the rear lap belts, but are included with the purchase. They are in good shape and come with the mounting hardware. The headliner is original and has a tear near the drivers side coat hook. There are also some typical glue stains from age near the edges. The carpet is original and has a few spots of wear. New custom Cocomats are included with the purchase. The door panels are also original with minimal warping. The rear folding pockets were missing, but we sourced a decent original pair and had them repaired and reinstalled. They have slight warping, but they do work properly. The dash is in good shape with one small crack between the speaker grill and defrost vent. There are no warping issues. All the gauges appear to work properly, including the clock. The AM/FM radio also powers up and works.
.
For me, the highlight of this survivor-driver is how it runs. It is one of the tighter driving longhoods Ive experienced. It starts easily, typically on the first try. The hand throttle works properly and helps hold an even idle during warm-up. The power is initially snappy, and it pulls strong throughout the rev range effortlessly. The transmission shifts smoothly and feels tight with no slop. There is no grinding of gears, and the clutch engages properly. It feels to have been recently rebuilt. The brakes have excellent bite with no fading or pulling. The car tracks straight, and the steering is very light. It is an absolute joy to drive and would be wonderful on a multi-day vintage tour.
This 911 is currently registered in California until December of 2026 and is smog testing exempt.
This Porsche 911 comes with extra keys, original owners manual with vinyl case, original maintenance booklet with dealer stamps, original window sticker, original bill of sale, Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, original blue CA license plates, original selling dealer license plate frame, many service records, multiple original workshop manuals (9), several other maintenance booklets, custom Cocomats (4), original sales literature, original seat belts, original front seats, original rear seat backs with hardware, original steel wheels with hubcaps, aftermarket new car cover, tool kit, and spare wheel/tire.
