First introduced in 1965, the Mercedes-Benz W108/W109 twins replaced the W111/W112 full-size luxury sedans (the coupe/cabriolet models built on those chassis were kept in production for several more years). Stylistically, the new sedans were nearly identical to the company's flagship, the 600, and featured roomier interiors and updated engines to entice buyers. Initially, the W108 and long-wheelbase-only W109 were solely offered with Inline-6s, but the desire for higher performance and long-distance comfort required the company to introduce several different V8s.
Of these, most were 3.5L models sold worldwide, though the company offered a 4.5L options for the US to compensate for our ever-changing emissions standards. However, the most powerful and desirable of the W109 models is the 300 SEL 6.3. First introduced in 1968, the new car featured the 6.3L V8 used in the range-topping 600. The result was a car that could easily keep up with period sports cars - all while offering the luxury inherent to the design of the car. Today, these cars are fondly remembered for their effortless performance, timeless style, and remarkably modern driving experience.
The incredible 1971 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 Sedan featured here is finished in stunning factory Dark Olive over an impeccably kept Cognac leather interior. In addition to the long list of standard equipment lavished on every 300 SEL 6.3, this example was equipped with a full leather interior and air conditioning from the factory, ensuring it is pleasant to drive in any conditions. This exceptional Mercedes-Benz has received meticulous care from its previous owners, making this the perfect choice to drive or show. We are proud to offer this incredible 300 SEL 6.3 to the most particular collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this great classic!
