1971 Jaguar E-Type
Classic Car Overview
1971 Jaguar XKE MKII one owner 46years
This beautiful car was leased by a doctor in Charlotte NC through Town and Country Ford in 1971. The tax laws during that time allowed professionals to shield income by doing this. At the end of the two year lease the doctor purchased the car from the leasing company. During his ownership the car was meticulously taken care of by several shops in Charlotte and he kept excellent records, which will be provided with the car. It was obviously his pet and no expense was spared.
During the 1990’s Jenkins and Jenkins rebuilt the engine, it now has about 12,000 miles on it. During that time the Charlotte Airport condemned the land under the that shop for expansion of the airport. One of the supervisors left and started another high end maintenance shop in the Charlotte area. The doctor followed and in 2017 sold the Jaguar to him. In February of 2021 I bought the car.
Two things that I did not count on when I bought the car. Covid lasting this long and my arthritis advancing this fast. I have a very hard time getting in and out of the car and so at 82 years of age I find myself wanting to sell it. I fully expect that in my time I will see it go across the podium at Pebble Beach or Amelia Island.
The car has never been restored. It lives in my air conditioned heated garage and has obviously never been north of the Mason Dixon line. It is stunning to look as it has always been kept that way. Repainted in the 1990’s in the original color and reupholstered in Tan Leather. It now has 83,000 miles on it, with the engine being overhauled about 12,000 miles ago. Delivered new with air conditioning, power steering and power brakes it is a delight to drive. This is, obviously, supported by the records included with the car.
Recent maintenance includes new battery, new clutch slave cylinder, air conditioning service, oil change and filter.
An interesting idea! Fly in and I will pick you up at that airport. Get in the car and drive it anywhere in the U.S. You will have a great time doing it and a pleasant vacation. The tires were replaced as a set and are Goodyear Red Stripe. they are only a couple of years old and I made sure that the date code is shown in one of the pictures.
As a car enthusiast for over 65 years I would entertain a partial swap on the car but I have no desire for an unfinished project. All of the cars I own are perfectly drivable and I am proud to stand next to them at shows.
We have shipped cars to and from Europe and are willing to help set up transportation should you need it. Ports to ship from are Jacksonville and Savannah. Please be aware that no car ever leaves my garage till the money is verified to be in my account.
