In just a few short years, Walter P. Chrysler took his company from an unknown automotive manufacturer to fourth in the industry. Walter Chrysler was a perfectionist with a deep mechanical background. This aspect, probably more than anything, helped to make Chrysler Corporation grow quickly.
A viable alternative that's still daring and different, the 1968 Chevy Impala SS 427. SS 427 Impalas are very distinctive and unique. Sales were modest, so finding an Impala SS 427, especially a convertible, could be a little challenging.
Classic Car Overview
This car is simply incredible and a true time capsule It has to be one of the most wholesome cars we have ever owned. Purchased from the 2nd owner who bought it from his longtime friend & co-workers estate in 1994. He told us that he hounded his friend about buying it from day 1 and as the years went by would remind her that when she was ready to sell that he wanted the car. Fast forward to 1994 the original owner and longtime friend & co-worker unexpectedly passes away and the car was as promised, offered to purchase from the estate. It was in pretty rough shape however still original and in running condition . Once bought it was quickly determined that the car would be treated to a total restoration. In 1996 the car was professionally restored by a local Chevy dealer whose body shop manager was a hot rodder and loved the story behind the car. He took on the job with 2 conditions, that it would get done at his pace and use as much N.O.S. parts as possible. Both full 1/4s , doors & left fender were found and installed and the body was fit to perfection. The floors, trunk & frame were stripped clean and painted and are all original. Beautifully painted original Tuxedo Black in base/clear. Once completed the car was sent off to the upholstery shop for a new white power top and a new black bench seat interior. The original 307c.i. 200h.p. 2 bbl. engine and power glide transmission were rebuilt and the original 10 bolt 3:08 rear was serviced. Every system was replaced new including the steering, suspension, fuel, brake and air conditioning. A few nice upgrades were added like front disc brakes, dual exhaust, 14 rally wheels and radial tires. The 2nd owner is a longtime member of the Maryland Chevelle Club.
