Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Savoy Faire is Everywhere

The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Classic Car Overview

71 GMC Sprint Custom. #'s Matching BB 402! Most Likely SP. Not typical El Camino SS. I have seen more factory 454's than I have this 402/ turbo 400 combo. Very rare car!! Check out the GMC Sprint homepage.
VIN 536801. Decoded means 71 GMC Sprint Custom. (SP is a GMC designation for Chevys SS only way to know for sure is build sheet or high performance parts factory installed) LS3 402 BB 300 hp. Turbo 400, 12 bolt open rear w/273 gears. All #'s Matching. Car built in Van Nuys, Ca. Car was White with saddle interior. Factory items installed on this car include Port hole dash (SS) with 5500 redline tach, Front and Rear large swaybars, Front PDB, Air conditioning (missing comp), Cruise Control (missing turn signal engage button, Vacuum actuator) Wiring is still there, Wide angle interior mirror W/courtesy light. Tilt steering column, Bump Hood (Non-cowl induction). This car (according to documentation. I have done lots of research on these cars) is one of 43 cars built (+/- 40 units), That is if this is an SP. Non SP Custom vehicle prod #'s is 31 (+/- 40 units). I have not found the build sheet for the car yet. I did find useless top part under the pax seat?? (shouldn't be there!). Car runs great, Needs rear end rebuilt, was gonna put a 355 auburn locker and will eventually but price will reflect, been sitting in shed since I bought from Sister in Alaska and shipped here 3 yrs ago. She owned for prolly bout 4 yrs and had in a shed as well. Car does show signs of cancer, Not as bad as some I've seen. Car had a seasonal registration (not driven in Alaska winters) and it shows. Unfortunately the previous owners had cut a hole for a sun roof. There are other things that make me wonder what person was thinking but it is what it is. I was going to restore car back to original but not gonna be able to do anytime soon. Price is pretty firm, Know what this car is! Most likely one of 43 (+/- 40) built! This is NOT you're typical El Camino SS. Way less production #'s.
