Classic Car Overview
This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is powered by its numbers-matching 350ci/270-horsepower V8 paired with a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission. I purchased the car in the Riverside, California area around 1996 and have owned it continuously for approximately 30 years.
The car is finished in white over Dark Blue vinyl and is equipped with a white convertible top. It was originally finished in Mulsanne Blue, paint code 976, with Dark Blue vinyl, trim code 412. The white paint has recently received touch-up and correction work addressing most of the cosmetic paint issues that had developed over time.
Factory equipment includes C60 air conditioning, N40 power steering, J50 power brakes, and an N37 tilt/telescopic steering column. The air-conditioning system has been serviced and fitted with a new compressor.
The Dark Blue interior is in good overall condition, with various interior components replaced during my ownership while retaining the factory appearance. Minor age-related flaws remain.
The vacuum-operated headlights, windshield wipers and washer system are functional, and all gauges operate, including the clock.
The speedometer was inoperative when I purchased the car. It was later professionally restored, at which time the odometer was reset to zero. Based on my ownership history and known use, I estimate the car has approximately 44,000 total miles, although the current odometer reading does not reflect actual accumulated mileage.
The 350 V8 runs well, and the Turbo 400 shifts strongly. During my ownership, oil changes have been performed using Mobil 1 synthetic oil and Mobil 1 filters.
The suspension was disassembled, with components refinished in black powder coat and reinstalled using polyurethane bushings. Underside photos show the suspension work and condition of the chassis and underbody.
The car rides on Corvette Rally wheels with trim rings and center caps, fitted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
The VIN is 194671S121306, and the car retains its July 1971 General Motors certification label.
This Corvette is presented as a well-sorted, long-term-owned driver rather than a concours restoration. It retains its numbers-matching engine, factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and tilt/telescopic steering, and has been maintained and improved during nearly three decades of current ownership.
