Cool Classics: Chevrolet Chevelle

Chevrolet introduced the Chevelle in 1963 as a 1964 model. Though quite large by today's standards, it was classified as a midsize car. What wasn't midsize was the level of passion garnered from the very beginning, a passion that has continued for decades.

Classic Car Overview

A head-turning Chevelle SS tribute with a great mix of high performance, style, and drivability.

The power plant is a big block Chevy 509 stroker that runs on premium pump gas. It has a retrofit street/strip hydraulic roller camshaft, Promaxx aluminum heads with roller rocker arms, Edlebrock Performer RPM intake manifold, and Moroso aluminum oil pan. All this is paired with Fitech fuel injection and MSD ignition. Engine accessories include Chevrolet Performance aluminum valve covers, March performance aluminum pulleys, serpentine belt conversion, Proform electric water pump, power steering, single wire chrome alternator, and Optima red top battery. The electrical has been upgraded with an American Auto Wire Classic Update series wire harness.

Fuel is delivered from a 20-gallon aluminum fuel cell mounted in the trunk, Holley Sniper in-tank fuel pump, and stainless braided fuel lines with AN-fittings. The exhaust system includes ceramic coated Hooker competition headers, H-pipe, Flowmaster Super 40 series mufflers, and angle cut rolled edge chrome tips straight out the back. Temperature is controlled with a Cold Case aluminum radiator and dual electric cooling fans.

The transmission is the iconic Muncie 4-speed with a McLeod clutch pack and Hurst competition shifter. It has a custom-built HD driveline connected to a GM posi rear end with 3.55 gears.

The suspension has been completely upgraded with tubular upper and lower control arms, adjustable tubular rear trailing arms, UMI springs, KYB shocks/struts, and front/rear sway bars. The steering has also been upgraded with an Ididit tilt column, polished DD steering shaft with Flaming River joints, and Hotchkis adjustable tie rod sleeves.

Massive Baer disc brakes all around with 6 piston calipers, cross drilled/slotted rotors, Wilwood aluminum master cylinder, and proportioning valve. Hurst line lock and stainless braided brake lines.

The interior is a classic black SS interior with upgrades like bolstered bucket seats, 3-point seat belts, Grant GT steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and Autometer gauges. Custom Auto digital stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs. Dual 6x9 rear speakers powered by a Dual 2-channel 400-Watt amplifier.

The paint is dark green with white SS stripes, functioning cowl induction hood, and SS badging. The wheels are chrome 20-inch American Racing Torq Thrusts wrapped in Toyo Proxes tires. Front: 245/35R20. Rear: 295/30R20.

This vehicle also has a unique owner history. It was owned by former NFL Seahawks player Derrick Coleman, who played in Super Bowl XLVIII. Washington Department of Licensing records confirmed the vehicle was registered to Coleman. An autographed Coleman Seahawks jersey is included with the vehicle.

This is a street driven vehicle. It has never been raced and it is rust free. It runs and drives great, and everything works.

Additional information can be provided upon request. Includes a file full of parts receipts, instruction manuals, dyno sheet, some spare parts and color matched touch up paint.
