Cool Classics: Chevrolet Chevelle

Chevrolet introduced the Chevelle in 1963 as a 1964 model. Though quite large by today's standards, it was classified as a midsize car. What wasn't midsize was the level of passion garnered from the very beginning, a passion that has continued for decades.

Classic Car Overview

This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle has the sleekness, speedy style, and enhanced V8 power to have some serious Super Sport-style fun. And youll also discover some nice details - like the overdrive transmission and AC interior - that makes it an all-around good cruising classic. The slick coat of red paint has an awesome shine. You can tell its a professional application by the way the luster is even across the whole body. They made sure to give it the best of everything that makes this Chevelle a Super Sport tribute that emits a speedy style from every angle. This includes the cowl hood, hood pins, correct SS badges, and wide dual exhaust tips. Plus, the SS grille and crisply painted racing stripes give this one a hint of blackout appeal. More than just sporty style, theres attractive brightwork where the chrome bumpers and trim complement the shine of the paint. Theres a quality here that goes down to the details, like the clean drip rails and how the doors close with confidence. The overall idea of this car is to have a sleek SS-style machine that youll enjoy driving. So its show-worthy but also has been driven responsibly. After all, the American Racing Torq Thrust wheels look good with their added shine, but their real purpose is to use the 18/20-inch front/rear setup to add a sporty stance and grippy modern performance tires. We like it when the exterior stripes are a preview of whats inside, and lets face it, a muscle car deserves an all-black interior, too. Its quite clean and complete, right down to the working dome light. This hardtop has been upgraded in all the best ways. Some are subtle, like the newer front bucket, and the overdrive setting in the center console shifter. Others are a bit more obvious, like the Vintage Air air conditioning and the upgraded Sony AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input and subwoofers in the trunk. And you love the grip of the classic Chevy sports steering wheel. It also gives you a clear view of the full AutoMeter Cobalt gauges. The dark inner walls of the engine bay funnel all your attention to the shining components in the idle. So this has the clean look of a well-built powerhouse. This is a later 350 cubic-inch V8 that were told was enlarged to a 383ci stroker. While thats unproven, it does have the feeling of a strong motor. Of course, that would also have to do with the added performance upgrades. It includes a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a high-rise intake, and headers feeding an H-pipe dual exhaust. There are also the right supporting components, like an MSD digital 6 plus ignition system, an electric fan, and a March serpentine belt system. The transmission has been upgraded to a 700R4 four-speed unit. Its stout enough to handle the enhanced power while also delivering overdrive comfort. So you can see how this was built to be a good all-around driver. There were even recent investments in the driveshaft, sway bar bushings, and power steering pump. And the new tires are backed by a nice set of power brakes with front discs. This is the hardtop Chevelle that has the power to live up to its SS style and the comfort to let you show it off everywhere. Call today!!!
