Chevrolet introduced the mid-size, A-body Chevelle in 1964, offering many different body styles and a plethora of engines including three inline sixes, two small blocks and even a big block 396. The next revision came in 1968 when the Chevelle embraced more of its muscle car lineage. The newly updated body would continue on the success of the originals and would make a perfect predecessor to the 1970 models. Enhancing on the success of the 70 model year, the 71 was introduced with revised front and rear fascias, now with half as many headlights and twice the taillights. The once again updated body was one of the most iconic shapes of the muscle car era.
