1971 Chevrolet C/K Truck

1971 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed Pickup Getting its namesake from Henry Ford where the customer would literally use the Model T with a bed added to pick up various things to haul to another location. The name stuck. Here we have a beautifully restored bowtie version 71 C10 pickup with performance upgrades aplenty, smooth panels, a snappy interior, and just an overall good looker. A custom red tinted stain in the bed in contrast with the sinister black paint, and I have a warm and fuzzy feeling about this C10 with its non-verifiable 44,444 miles showing on the odometer. Exterior With its straight steel panels in abundance, all awash in menacing black which was professionally applied, its a stunner and highlighted by near perfection chrome. Upfront, a silver painted egg crate grille is bordered all around by a shiny wide trimming. Within this framing are the single headlights on either edge and a centrally located bowtie. Side marker lights are encircled with chrome bezels, and the badging calls out 8-350, denoting what is under the hood. The steel is beautifully crafted to form all panels with some bump outs, pleats and rounded over surfaces which are all presenting very nicely but not without some scrapes, scuffs, runs and touch ups. The bed is a wonderful warm red tinted stained oak planking with shiny chromed separators between each board to hold it to the deck. The tailgate is also devoid of any badging or logos, and just has the inset black gate handle and outboard flush mount tail and reverse lights. The rear bumper remains, and like the front... just perfect. 5 spoke 20-inch Ridler wheels are all wrapped in hardy used staggered width black walls from 2017. Interior A swing of the doors and what to my wondering eyes should appear but retina searing red vinyl with vertical tuck and roll inserts. A swoop spear has also been stitched in and sandwiching the vinyl top and bottom is red painted steel making up the uppers and lower of the doors. Inside is nothing short of spectacular with tuck and roll vinyl inserts and smooth red vinyl bolster. Some more of the swoop appears on the seat upper, highlighting the large V insert stitched into seat central. Upfront is the stock looking same shaped dash but now totally cleaned and detailed sporting the circular gauges and knobs with this black textured panel. A billet style steering wheel is mounted to the steering column. Full metal jacket red paint covers the dash front, and on top is a showroom shiny padded red dash top. The center dash panel houses the AM/FM/CD radio and a heater delete panel just below. Just all pristinely clean and fully functional. Red carpeting is flooding the floor below and the headliner is a ribbed red steel panel...juicy and delicious! Drivetrain Looking showroom, like the rest of the truck, we see a 350ci Chevrolet V8 engine presenting in orange, a nice contrast to the black bay. It is finished with a single Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor atop a Weiand intake manifold and is dressed nicely with a polished air cleaner lid and Chevrolet bowtie valve covers. Bolted to the back is a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and power goes to the back wheels and tires via a 12 bolt rear axle. Headers and a Flowmaster exhaust are on for the big exhale, and these are spotless and like new. Undercarriage Highlights underneath include a miles of black rust free steel and lowered suspension, which are independent coil springs for the front, and trailing arm, panhard bar, and coil springs in back. Power disc braking is on front, and power drums on back. Just showroom pristine condition for this 53 year old truck. Very impressive. Drive-Ability Normally, Im not a truck guy, but the Darth Vader glow of the black paint, straight lines of the steel, tinted wood bed, and like new interior beckoned me to get in. Im glad I did as it performed beautifully with lots of power, bias free panic stopping, smooth steering from the variable ratio steering box, and fully functioning interior and exterior components.
