Classic Car Overview

1970 Porsche 914-6 Rare Gemini Blue Factory Color

V Fine Motorcars is proud to offer this 1970 Porsche 914-6 finished in the extremely rare factory color Gemini Blue, believed to retain its original matching numbers 2.0L flat-6 engine. With only approximately 3,300 Porsche 914-6 examples produced worldwide for 1970, these cars have become highly sought-after collector pieces, especially in rare factory colors like Gemini Blue, which is believed to account for less than 1% of production.

This example was repainted under previous ownership and still presents very well overall, showing only minor rock chips on the front end along with some imperfections consistent with the age of the vehicle, as shown in the photos. The black interior is in very nice condition and appears to have newer carpeting. Overall, the car feels well-preserved and highly original in character.
Unlike the standard four-cylinder 914 models, the 914-6 was factory-equipped with many components shared directly with the early Porsche 911, including the 2.0L flat-6 engine, 5-speed transmission, suspension, brakes, hubs, and iconic 14-inch Fuchs alloy wheels designed specifically for the 914-6. These factory upgrades gave the 914-6 significantly improved performance and handling characteristics over the standard 914.

The mid-engine layout combined with the lightweight chassis makes these cars one of the best-driving air-cooled Porsches of the era. At roughly 300 pounds lighter than a comparable 1970 Porsche 911, the 914-6 delivers an incredibly balanced and planted driving experience. Once behind the wheel, you immediately notice how responsive and agile the chassis feels through corners while remaining remarkably stable at highway speeds.

As collector interest in rare and limited-production air-cooled Porsches continues to grow, original and correctly optioned 914-6 models have become increasingly difficult to find. This rare Gemini Blue example offers an excellent opportunity to own a highly desirable Porsche that can be enjoyed as-is or taken to the next level with a cosmetic restoration.
