Classic Car Overview

1970 Porsche 914-6 VIN 9140431984 Engine No. 6405270 Completed on May 1, 1970 Original paint and interior An original preservation class 914-6 with one owner for 54 years. Finished in its original color combination of Adriatic Blue over Black leatherette upholstery. Optional equipment from the factory includes USA Equipment, Leather Steering Wheel, Fog Lights, Tinted Glass All Around, and Forged Alloy 5.5 x 14 Fuchs Wheels. The Adriatic Blue paintwork, exterior trim, glass, badging, and brightwork are in exceptional condition and well-preserved, displaying remarkable originality and panel fit. The interior is untouched and very impressive, featuring original leatherette upholstery. The 5.5 x 14 Fuchs alloy wheels are original and not redone, mounted to Sprint Classic Vredestein 185HR 14 tires. The undercarriage has undergone an ice-blasting detail to reveal its original undercoat and floor pans. Delivered on February 5, 1971, with 25 miles, to Mr. Howatt by Park Porsche Audi in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Mr. Howatt, an engineer by profession, contributed to the design of the Apollo guidance system. The maintenance booklet indicates the Porsche dealer carried out services from 1971 at 6,254 miles to 1974 at 42,900 miles. Due to professional commitments, Mr. Howatt utilized the 914-6s sparingly until 1985, after which it was stored in his garage for four decades until 2024. In 2024, European Collectibles had the opportunity to acquire this remarkably 914-6. The engine, transmission, suspension, and braking components were all removed, and the undercarriage underwent a complete ice blasting. The suspension components were stripped to steel and repainted with factory spec, and new struts and shocks were installed on all four corners. The braking system was completely rebuilt with all new rotors, pads, calipers, and brake lines. The fuel system was equipped with all-new fuel lines, and the fuel tank was replaced. Mechanically, this 914-6 runs perfectly with a numbers-matching 2.0-liter flat-six (Type 901/38) rated at 110 horsepower, a smooth-shifting 5-speed manual dogleg transmission (Type 901), and four-wheel disc brakes. The engine underwent a comprehensive refurbishment process, including removing all non-essential components down to the long block. All sheet metal was powder-coated, while all hardware components were CAD-plated. The alternator and 40IDA Weber carburetors were rebuilt. The valves were adjusted, timing and dwell set, and the valve cover gaskets were installed; the rear main seal, the front seal, the oil cooler seal, and the oil thermostat and seal were all replaced. Complete with maintenance record booklet, tool kit, jack, dog bone passenger footrest, and spare tire. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a phenomenal all-original 914-6 finished in an amazing color combination.
