It’s hard to imagine that the Pontiac GTO might never have made it into production. Had it not been for a small group of managers at Pontiac who were also car enthusiasts and visionaries, the GTO might not have been.
From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview
1970 Pontiac GTO $39,900
This 1970 GTO has just 4000 miles since a complete frame off restoration. The car is an original Attol Blue car that is PHS documented.
The motor is a 1969 428 that originally had 390 HP and is now closer to 450 after a complete rebuild. The car has a mean sounding exhaust that flows through headers into a set of Flowmaster mufflers. The transmission is a TH400 with mild stall and shift kit. The rear end has 3.23 posi gearing which works well around town and out on the open road.
The car has been down to bare metal from top to bottom and has a very nice two stage paint job. The stainless, chrome and glass are all good condition, and all of the rubber is new. The interior has all new soft parts, and the car is great to drive in the summer with the Vintage Air.
