Classic Car Overview

INTRODUCTION: This is a genuine Superbird, born with a 440, 4-speed, and Dana rear! It still retains its original fender tag, and has photos verifying its authenticity. It has just completed a fresh rotisserie restoration and has been thoughtfully upgraded for modern performance. Under the hood is a powerful Mopar Mega Block 472 Hemi, backed by upgraded components throughout. Its equipped with Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes for confident stopping power, a Control Freaks front suspension, rack & pinion steering for improved handling, and upgraded gauges to keep everything in check.

EXTERIOR: The body was restored from a bare shell that was professionally acid dipped, with new quarter panels installed during the build. There is zero rust! It is straight from front to back with excellent panel fit, the doors close properly and the headlights open as they should. Retaining its original aerodynamic nose cone and rear wing, this Superbird also features the aerodynamic windshield pillar covers and pushed out rear window that made the design legendary. It has been refinished in its original B5 Blue color with a deep, glossy shine, while the bold Superbird decals have been replaced. The restoration went further with new glass throughout, along with refreshed chrome and trim. The vinyl top is new, weatherstripping has been replaced, and it sits proudly on a brand new set of 15x8 Rallye wheels wrapped in new BFGoodrich tires that are fatter in the rear for an aggressive stance.

INTERIOR: The interior has been completely restored. Hidden from view are all new wiring harnesses on the floor is fresh carpet, embroidered floor mats, and a full set of seatbelts front and rear. The seats have been rebuilt with new cushioning and fresh upholstery, while the door panels have all been replaced. The dash pad and instrument bezel are in excellent condition, complemented by a modern set of gauges and a retro style stereo mounted in the factory location. The steering wheel is in excellent shape and retains the iconic beep beep horn. Unique to the Superbird, the rear package shelf is new, along with a fresh headliner installed front to back. Finishing it off is the factory pistol grip shifter rising from the floor!

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood sits an Elephant on steroids powerplant- a Mopar Mega Block 472 HEMI producing over 600 horsepower! This freshly built engine features dual quad carbs, MSD ignition, coated headers, and is finished in HEMI Orange with factory style air cleaner and crinkle finish valve covers. The front of the engine is equipped with a CVF runner system featuring billet pulleys and brackets, serpentine belt, chrome Powermaster alternator, and chrome power steering components. It runs cool with an upgraded aluminum radiator and factory shroud, and is equipped with a Wilwood master cylinder. All components present fresh and detailed. The three speed wiper motor is in place and functional, along with the complete battery hold down, washer system, working horns, and new vacuum system for the headlights. The engine bay is beautifully finished in B5 Blue, retaining the original fender tag, and the VIN stamp clearly present on the core support.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Fully refinished in B5 Blue and the trunk floor is solid metal throughout. The weatherstrip, trunk mat, rear seat divider, and wiring have all been replaced for a clean, functional presentation.

UNDERSIDE: Virtually brand new throughout. Up front, its been upgraded with a Control Freaks suspension and steering system, featuring tubular control arms, coilover adjustable gas shocks, and rack & pinion steering for precise handling. In back it has new leaf springs, bushings, and shocks. It has an all new Wilwood brake system- lines, hoses, and e-brake cables and its upgraded with drilled and slotted disc brakes at all four wheels. It also features a great sounding custom TTI exhaust with an X-pipe, exiting through the factory tips. The fuel system has been completely replaced, including the tank. Looking up at the motor, everything is fresh, including an extra capacity oil pan. It has a rebuilt 18 spline 833 4-speed transmission, and the rebuilt driveshaft leads back to its original Dana 60 rear end with 3.54 Sure-Grip gears that has recently been serviced. The underbody is exceptionally clean, it has its original floors including the 4-speed hump . No rust, just solid clean metal painted B5 blue. Its been reinforced with welded subframe connectors from front to back for added strength and stability.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car we sell.

CONCLUSION: This is one heck of an opportunity to own a legendary Superbird with true supercar status. Highly collectible and unquestionably iconic, this is a real factory born 4-speed car equipped with a Dana rear end. With its thoughtful upgrades and exceptional restoration, you can put this legend on the road and enjoy an unbelievable amount of fun while owning one of the most celebrated muscle cars of all time!

SUPERBIRD STORY: In 1969 the Dodge Daytona was built to win NASCAR races. The engineers at Mopar squeezed all the horsepower they could out of their cars, so they called in a rocket scientist to increase speed with aerodynamics. Every bend, curve and arch served a purpose. It wasnt for show, it was to win races and that is what it did. It was the first car to ever exceed 200 mph on a closed-circuit track. Over at Plymouth their star NASCAR driver, Richard Petty, was handicapped by the limitations of the Road Runner so he jumped ship and went to Ford. In 1970 it was Plymouth that would carry on the Winged Warrior program with the Superbird. It was an attempt to lure back Petty and win races, both were achieved. As a matter of fact, it won so many races it caused its own demise. The top speeds these cars were achieving caused NASCAR to change their rules which brought a quick end to the Winged Warriors. NASCAR regulations said the manufacturers had to offer whatever they were racing as a production car to the public. Each one was hand assembled at a remote location. They were rather obnoxious looking and impractical as an everyday car so they collected dust at the dealer showrooms, some dealers went as far as to remove the nose and wing. Today they are considered the holy grail of muscle cars!
