1970 Plymouth Roadrunner $41,500

This 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner is a genuine RM21 not a clone and was originally a 383 automatic coupe model. The original engine was replaced with a professionally built 440 stroker / 496 ci which produces 600 HP at the flywheel. The 3-speed 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission was rebuilt with street racing parts and a manual valve body which produces great power transfer and hard shifts. 3.73 Strange gears and posi-trac differential in the 8.75 differential mean that it can be driven on the highway.

The car was left to appear mostly stock, and it looks and sounds great. With the big cam and X-pipe exhaust, it rumbles with a classic muscle car shake. It will break the tires free at 35 mph, and it is quick in a straightaway (easy 12 second mile on radial street tires). All components are top quality, and complete records are available for nearly everything that was installed on the car. The interior is clean, tires are great, and everything works. Built to be driven definitely not a trailer queen or museum piece.

I am selling it after 8 years because I dont have time to enjoy it and other than monthly visits to run the engine and check fluids, it sits in an indoor storage building most of the time. I would rather see someone use the car.

Body / Trim pretty straight, but someone had done some bodywork in the past. Paint shines and is good-looking (not nearly perfect), but there are some things that need to be fixed. Original bumpers, some new / some original aluminum and stainless trim, new marker lenses, roadrunner with dust trail etc. overall looks good.

Wheels and tires 15 BFG Radial T/As in great shape on chrome magnum wheels.

Suspension new front disc power brakes with vacuum booster pump, rear drum, power steering, good shocks, mostly original suspension design with polyurethane bushings. Definitely not a slalom car, but stops on a dime.

Interior seat covers are in nice shape and are installed over the original bench frame with springs old-school bouncy, but functional. Carpet and Roadrunner mats in very good condition with Dynamat under the carpet. Original gauges were reconditioned with white faces they look good but function like old gauges. The tick-tock tach is not connected. Autometer tach and oil /water gauges installed. Original AM radio, and dash pad was replaced. Heater coil / fan / duct was removed. Overall basic but clean and pretty fresh-looking.

Engine as stated, 440/496 ci / 600 HP with maybe 5,000 miles. Aluminum heads, water pump, crank pulley, and Edelbrock intake, Dougs big ceramic-coated headers, Barry Grant 1000 cfm carburetor, MSD ignition, hi-torque starter, engine oil cooler, big-core radiator (car runs cool), Aeromotive fuel pump / regulator w/ fuel lines. New fuel tank has new supply and bypass feeds welded into tank. There is so much to list re/ the engine internals full builder specs and dyno results available upon request.

Transmission / Differential Torqueflite 727 recently rebuilt with shift kit and manual valve body. Maybe 500 miles on the transmission. 3500 RPM stall speed converter. Shifts hard. 8.75 differential with 3.73 gears and posi-trac diff. Pinion snubber.

Overall, the car is a go-fast-in-a-straight-line, make a lot of noise, head-turner that is fun to drive. Few creature comforts but sounds like a bad-ass muscle car should.
