Classic Car Overview

1970 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday hardtop coupe is a W-30 example that was purchased new 11/69 with the W-30 options. The replacement 455ci V8 and TH400 three-speed automatic transmission Rear diff gears 3.42:1 Owner bought the car for the purpose of racing at local drag strips, therefore never having been registered for highway use, only having 28,000 miles. Have some pictures of car racing at the drag strips. He stopped racing the car in 1995, and at that time, had the car repainted back to the original color of twilight blue poly. He had to have it repainted, because if you see old pictures, you see the lettering painted on the car. In 1995, he registered the car for highway use and drove very little and the car was always garage kept. Interior is all original and in very good shape, showing no signs of wear or tear. Everything is in working condition on the interior gauges, etc. The car was trailered to the track, thus the low mileage. I purchased the car from the original owner whom I have known most of my life in 2018 for the purpose of detailing the car back to its original condition. Undercarriage of the car showed no rust and only needed to be cleaned and some minor repainting. Engine bay and motor had to be gone over because of a minor oil leak. Motor and transmission were removed to be cleaned up and gone over. Motor was disassembled and rebuilt with new gaskets and seals and was repainted before installing back in the car. Transmission was gone over and torque converter with new filter installed. All original items missing from the engine were purchased and installed to bring them back to original condition. Items replaced on the motor were new water pump, all gaskets and seals, original style plug wires, PVC valve, distributor cap, original style radiator and heater hoses and clamps, etc. Motor has original aluminum W-30 intake manifold, F-style heads. The original engine block was apparently destroyed in its early life of racing and the engine stamp says its from 1968 along with the transmission.
