Following in the tradition of previous Ford factory built Mustang race cars like the 1968 Cobra Jet, the Boss 429 and the FR500S Mustang Challenge car, Ford Racing and AAI started work on a production run of 50 Cobra Jet Mustangs in January 2010. Ford Racing built 50 Cobra Jet Mustangs at Ford vendor facilities.

Lights! Cameras! Cars!

One thing that the crew at Volo Auto Museum understands is that context is everything. They have gone the extra mile to display each movie car with memorabilia and signage that brings the scene to life. The museum features actual movie props such as Tom Cruise's racing seat from Days Of Thunder.

The dyno session report (browse photos) shows 379.5 horsepower and 567.1 ft-lbs of torque so it’s a legitimate 400 HP/600 torque powertrain at the flywheel, and could probably show more of both with wider tires/wheels and something faster than the all season tires I have on it.  My engine builder called it a stump-puller, with 500 ft-lb of torque available at around 3,000 rpm.  But it’s not a drag racer. It retains its 3.23 rear-end and a fairly mid cam setup, but corners much more like a modern car. Perfect for autocross or aggressive touring. It also retains the original iron exhaust manifolds, so the exhaust note is not overwhelming, just STRONG. Always garaged and no rust I can see.  Mileage is since the motor rebuild; original odometer is about 97,000.  I’ve got more than $160,000 in this 442.  Contact me by email if you are serious. Test drives for experienced stick drivers only. Finally, I will close through Escrow.com only, with a purchase/sale agreement.
