Classic Car Overview

This pristine 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Cabriolet has been meticulously maintained. The vehicle is turn key, and has been stored in a temperature controlled garage since 2012. Previously the car was registered in California for over 10 years.

One of the vehicles most notable features includes the factory low grille. Only 200 low grille 2.8L 280SE Cabriolets were ever produced, compared to the 1,390 high grille models. This famous look is identical to the highly collectable 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet of which 1,232 were ever produced.

At the heart of this vehicle is a 2.8-liter, Straight-6, Mercedes M130 engine making about 180 Horsepower. From factory these cars came equipped with independent front and rear suspension, anti-sway bars, and power-assisted disk brakes.

Recently serviced items include the front and rear suspension, all four brakes, and the wood grain interior (Walnut) has been refinished. The factory air conditioning and console shift both work flawlessly.

The car was originally Mercedes Dark Red (DB 542), and now features the period correct Mercedes Deep Blue (DB 920) and original Leather Bamboo interior (code 249). Included in the sale are the original steering wheel, tool kit, spare tire, and hubcaps.

Also included are a few photos of this Mercedes showing at The Quail in 2012.
