From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

1970 Lincoln Mark III, this car was wrecked in 1971 when it only had 3,982 miles on it. A local body shop then purchased it from the insurance company as a rebuild project and over the course of several years repaired the damage with new OEM parts and eventually had it ready for paint. I personally worked on this car in 1973 when I was employed at this same body shop.  Several years later the shop owner then used most of the front end parts to fix a customers 70 Lincoln Mark III and as time passed the car was pushed into the back of the shop and mostly forgotten about. Approximately 10 years later the car was moved outside to a neighboring impound lot during an extensive remodel of the body shop and has sat neglected n the same spot ever since. Although in rough condition this is possibly the lowest mileage 1970 Lincoln Mark III in existence and is still very restorable or would make an excellent parts car. It's 100% complete mechanically and the engine turns over easily . The glass is all good except for the windshield and over all the body is really straight and nearly rust free. The interior is complete but dirty and sun baked and the car has keys and a clear title.
