Classic Car Overview

This 1970 Land Rover 88 Series IIA is a left-hand-drive example that was assembled by Ensmbladora Automotriz S.A. in Costa Rica. It was acquired by the seller in 2022 and imported to the US in 2023. Power is provided by a 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four linked with a four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a Fairey overdrive unit. The truck is finished in boxwood green over black upholstery and is equipped with 16 steel wheels, manually locking front hubs, a removable hardtop, a receiver hitch, side steps, and center-facing rear bench seats. This 88 Series IIA is now offered by the seller with a clean Utah title.
Centrally mounted instrumentation consists of a 130-km/h speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 42k kilometers (~ 26k miles), approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.25-liter inline-four sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a Fairey overdrive unit. The seller reports that service in July 2023 included replacing the alternator and battery, while the exhaust was replaced in December 2022.
