Seven years after production began, Jaguar was forced to make major updates to the E-Type to meet the increasingly stringent emissions and safety requirements in the United States. The Series II, as it became known, is easily distinguishable from the earlier cars due to its lack of headlamp covers, larger front/rear turn signal clusters, and an updated dashboard. A 4.2L Inline-6 was the only engine option, with US-market cars de-tuned to 246hp by the use of twin Stromberg carburetors. European-spec cars received triple SUs for 265hp.

In addition to the various safety improvements, Jaguar also focused on increasing comfort. Air conditioning and power steering were available as options, while head restraints became standard. Overall, Series II E-Types are known for offering a more refined driving experience over the original cars without losing their incredible beauty, unlike the later Series III E-Types. Naturally, this makes the Series II an excellent choice for the driving enthusiast looking for an exceptional driver with iconic good looks.

The incredible 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Roadster featured here is finished in its factory-correct original color combination of Black over a Cinnamon leather interior with a Black folding convertible top. According the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate, this particular example was completed in February 1970 and subsequently dispatched to British Leyland's New York distributor. After two short years, this Jaguar was acquired by a family who held the car through 2020. Today, the car drives exceptionally well with its numbers-matching 4.2L Inline-6 tastefully upgraded to European specification with triple SU carburetors for an estimated 265hp. Showing a mere 65,267 miles on its odometer, this impressive E-Type is the perfect choice for any premier collection. We are proud to offer this stunning 1970 E-Type Series II to the most astute collector, investor, or enthusiast who appreciates the performance, handling, and design of this iconic British sports car.
