Classic Car Overview

This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that is finished in red over black leather and powered by a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with 15 knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and a black soft top. Service since 2020 has included the addition of an aftermarket air conditioning system, a retro-style stereo, and an electronic ignition module as well as the replacement of the alternator, starter, battery, and tires. This XKE Roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with a car cover, an owners manual, and a clean Colorado title in the current owners name.
The body is finished in red and exterior details include a black soft top, a louvered forward-hinged hood, dual side mirrors, chrome bumpers with overriders, and twin polished exhaust outlets. The vinyl soft top and various pieces of chrome trim were replaced in the 1990s. Rust repairs were performed on the floor pans and rocker panels in 2018, following which the latter were repainted.
Chrome-finished 15 knock-off wire wheels wear Coker Classic redline tires with 2020 date codes. Servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes include inboard rear units.
The cockpit is trimmed in black leather and vinyl along with color-matched carpeting and lap belts. An aftermarket air conditioning system was installed in November 2020 along with a vintage-look modern stereo, two USB ports, and two 12V power outlets.
The steering wheel exhibits wear on its wood rim and sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles, approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. Auxiliary gauges and a row of rocker switches line the center dash. The clock does not work.
A 2015 rebuild of the 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six by Naples Hot Rod Engineering of Naples, Florida, included machining the block and crankshaft in addition to the installation of new pistons, rings, and resized bearings. The cylinder head was overhauled with new stainless-steel valves. An aluminum radiator was installed in 2018. Work in 2020 and 2021 included the installation of an electronic ignition module as well as the replacement of the starter, battery and cables, alternator, and spark plugs.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. Both clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced in 2015. The floor pans were covered with black undercoating following the 2018 body repairs.
