Classic Car Overview

1970 Ford F100 Short Bed Pickup For consignment a worker truck which has been restored a bit, driven a bit, worked a bit, and enjoyed a lot. Our consigner has done some work, admits its not perfect, but overall a nice example from 1970 that can be reliably driven and used on a daily basis if you wanted to. It has had the front clip repainted, the drivetrain fully rebuilt, the brakes gone over as well and lands in our overstuffed halls with 3,514 non-verifiable miles on the odometer. Exterior New Lime was one choice in the palette of colors and this truck now has a new coating of it on the front clip and it displays well. The remainder of the truck, the cab and bed show in a slightly faded New Lime and come replete with areas of cracking body filler, chipping paint, surface and invasive rust and dinged trim mainly reserved for the lowers and rear wheel arches. With shiny metal chromed grille with blacked out inserts and a single round headlight flanking either side this is an iconic design for 70s Ford trucks. Stainless ribbed trim runs the length of the truck and its on the midline as well as on the rockers and rear bed sides. Bringing up the rear is another nice bumper, and a badgeless tailgate. The bed is also finished in body matching New Lime and we note surface rust, dings and overall signs of use. 15-inch black steel wheels adorn the corners with their Ford badged dog dish caps and are wrapped in like new Hankook rubber. Interior A large bench seat in dark green with textured vinyl inserts and smooth vinyl bolsters can be seen stretching from door panel to door panel. The drivers area of the seat shows discoloration along with some cracking and splitting of the lower cushion vinyl. The doors are fitted with very nice panels that have tuck and roll vinyl black. Looking to the dash we see a wonderful warm patina instrument cluster, a look that only age can give. The original steering wheel is in front. Below floats a nice black carpet and above a composite board in tan is the headliner. Riding the center hump is a Hurst Pro-Matic 2 shifter and strapped to the right side of the column is a SunPro tachometer. Drivetrain A flip of the hood and you are gazing into a wonderful completely restored engine bay, which includes a fully rebuilt and resealed 302ci V8 cylinder engine, in the correct color blue I might add. On top is a single 4-barrel 600cfm Edelbrock carburetor. Bolted on the back is a rebuilt C6 3-speed automatic transmission which throws power to the rebuilt Ford 9-inch TracLoc rear axle with 3.00 gearing. Just a wonderful presentation in the black bay with its highly polished and blue painted add-ons. Undercarriage Some work done here to remediate rust through on the step ups to the cabin, body hangers have missing areas due to former rust problems, and it appears as floor pans have been replaced in a few areas. The frame remains sound and has been sprayed in black. Surface rust is also present, but other than the areas mentioned merely surface rust. Headers and FlowMaster mufflers work with the nearly new dual exhaust system for spent fossil removal and all appear as new. New power front disc brakes work with new rear power drums to provide the stopping power and we note new brake lines have been installed. Coil spring and radius arm suspension is on up front and in the back are traditional leaf springs. Drive-Ability No fooling around here, all the mechanical work has yielded a beautiful ride, great acceleration, bias free panic stopping, and really solid handling. All functionality is working perfectly save for the speedometer not tracking the miles per hour, but it was a comfortable cruiser. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. For an individual who just enjoys a nostalgic truck cruise or daily driver truck, this could be it. For the collector who wants to show a beautiful example of the F100, this could be it with some wrenching and TLC. For the business who may want to use it as a promotional piece, and attract a lot of eyeballs, this could be it. Make your way here for a test drive as this could be it!
