Among the greatest grand touring automobiles ever produced, the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona represented the pinnacle of Maranellos front-engine V-12 lineage. Introduced at the 1968 Paris Salon, it combined breathtaking Pininfarina styling with a race-bred 4.4-liter Colombo V-12, six Weber carburetors, and a rear-mounted five-speed transaxle to create one of the fastest production automobiles of its era. Effortlessly capable of sustained high-speed touring while remaining remarkably tractable on ordinary roads, the Daytona embodied Ferraris philosophy of blending competition-derived engineering with refined grand touring. Just 1,284 coupes were built between 1968 and 1973, ensuring its place among the marques most coveted road cars.

Offered here is chassis 13611, an early left-hand-drive example completed in July 1970 and delivered new to Ferrari importer Contak in South Africa. As an early-production Daytona, it retains several desirable features unique to the models first years, including the distinctive full-length Plexiglas nose and additional marker lights positioned above the front bumper corners. Power comes from its matching-numbered 4,390cc Colombo V-12 (engine no. 1016), breathing through six Weber twin-choke carburetors and paired with its corresponding five-speed transaxle (gearbox no. 251), while the Scaglietti-built body (no. 246) remains one of the most elegant expressions of Pininfarinas design language.

Today, the Daytona presents as an attractive, well-maintained drivers example. Originally finished in Argento 106-E-1 Daytona, it was refinished in Rosso earlier in its life, and the older repaint now exhibits the light wear and minor imperfections expected of a Ferrari that has been enjoyed on the road rather than preserved as a static showpiece. The black leather interior is similarly well presented, displaying an appealing patina with normal signs of use consistent with its age. Rather than detracting from the cars appeal, these honest cosmetic characteristics underscore its suitability as a grand touring Ferrari that invites regular enjoyment.

More importantly, this Daytona has recently benefited from comprehensive mechanical attention to ensure it performs as intended. The six Weber carburetors have been carefully synchronized and tuned, the ignition system serviced and adjusted, and other routine maintenance completed. The result is a Daytona that starts eagerly, pulls with tremendous urgency through the rev range, and delivers the effortless high-speed character for which these Colombo-powered grand tourers are celebrated. Rather than a static showpiece, this is a Ferrari prepared to be enjoyed on rallies, tours, and open roads.

Today, the 365 GTB/4 remains one of Ferraris defining road cars, revered as much for its exhilarating performance as for its timeless styling. Retaining its coveted early Plexiglas nose, documented history, and matching-numbered engine, this example offers an exceptional opportunity to experience one of Maranellos greatest grand touring automobiles as it was intended. Freshly serviced and beautifully presented, it is equally rewarding on vintage touring events, spirited weekend drives, or as a distinguished addition to any Ferrari collection.
