Classic Car Overview

If your tastes run towards muscle that can handle, then you cant overlook the Challenger T/A. Born of the same Trans-Am racing series that created the Boss 302 and Z28, the T/A was Dodges legendary entry, capable of ferocious speeds, both on the straights and in the twisties. This stunning Plum Crazy Purple 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T hits all the high notes, including an era-correct 440 V8 with the highly sought-after Six Pack induction, and a back-to-stock nut-and-bolt restoration thats turned this Mopar into a bonafide future show winner. A high-visibility car like this means you have some pretty serious hardware underneath, because theres no way youre going to sneak around unnoticed in this one. Complete with the aggressive hood with dual snorkels and hood pins, rear exhaust with dual chrome tips on each side, and a wicked Bumble Bee rear stripe and vinyl hood, theres little doubt that this looks the part of a race car. Beautifully finished with exceptional attention to detail, this Challenger certainly looks fast even when its sitting still. Theres a great deal of money invested in the restoration of this car and it shows everywhere you look, from the laser-straight bodywork to the deep finish on the two-stage urethane paint. Correct black R/T stripes were applied (painted and the cleared over) out back, along with the requisite 440 Six Pack badge on the hood and R/T badges fore and aft, just in case the code FC7 Plum Crazy Purple paint and snorkels on the hood werent enough advertising that this car was built to collect pink slips. Other correct details include the big gas cap on the rear quarter, sport mirrors, and R/T badges on the front fenders. Chrome bumpers have been expertly refinished and hood pins always suggest a lot of horsepower living underneath, and this car doesnt disappoint in that regard, either. The black bucket seat interior is the right choice with Plum Crazy, giving it a purposeful, all-business look that seems appropriate given the cars racetrack credentials. Theres a woodgrained console surrounding the Slap Stick shifter, which is remarkably easy to use as intended, and the woodgrained three-spoke steering wheel needs nothing more than a pair of string-back driving gloves to complete the look. Yes, you could get an automatic transmission in your R/T, perhaps a way for Mopar to appeal to guys and gals who wanted a Boss or a Z/28 but needed the convenience of an automatic. The big speedometer is to the left, followed by a tachometer, all-in-one, and clock, and all those Rallye Instruments are inside big round pods that look very cool inside the woodgrained dash. The original Music Master AM radio is still fully functional and theres almost nothing inside this car that doesnt look almost new. Even the trunk is shockingly clean, housing a reproduction mat and space saver tire and jack set that completes the look perfectly. An era-correct (72-78) 440 V8 lives under the hood (this car was born with a 440/390 horsepower Hi-Po engine), augmented by a trio of 2-barrel carburetors affectionately known as the legendary Six Pack. Its fully rebuilt and highly detailed for show, from the Hemi Orange paint to the correct air cleaner assembly up top that proudly advertises the induction system underneath, to the factory intake that was painted to match. Power steering and power front disc brakes are great factory options, and a set of stock-style manifolds that almost look like headers feed an H-pipe dual exhaust system with dual chromed tips under the rear bumper, one of the R/Ts defining features. It sounds AWESOME. The super-solid chassis is spectacular with body-colored floors, immaculately detailed chassis components, a newer gas tank, and the perfect factory stance. It sits on a set of classic Rallye wheels wearing staggered 215/70/15 front and 225/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A white-letter radials; appropriate because the R/T was one of the first production cars to offer staggered tires from the factory. Dialed-in and ready to show or go, this is the Challenger R/T youve been dreaming off. Time to make that a reality. Call today!
