Classic Car Overview
For sale a numbers matching 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 2 Door Hardtop, 383 / 335hp Magnum engine, 4spd manual transmission, 8 3/4 rear end with 3.23 posi rear end. VIN JS23NOE117218. Originally FJ5 sublime car with a on the column automatic transmission. Correct 727 torqueflite automatic transmission rebuild with shift kit has been in storage with the car and will be included.
History: The car has been in storage for many years since vandalized and besides clean-up/refresh it only requires proper prep and paint (no significant body work required), new vinyl roof, some trim pieces + painted mirrors need replaced (have originals) , auto glass, interior (carpet, seat covers, headliner), and some rallye dash work (lens gauge covers) required. Dash pad has normal cracks around speaker, it was not replaced as part of the 1990's restoration as at the time as I did not want to disturbed the VIN tag. Aftermarket wheels with VR50 Goodyear tires, no original 15 inch rallye wheels are available.
Never did anything special to the engine as it always ran very strong and it was only rebuilt as part of the previous restoration due to age, no other reason, and fitted with normal aftermarket pieces so it ran better on the street; Edelbrock intake (have original), carburetor, electronic ignition, starter, water pump, oil pump, clutch fan, radiator (additional capacity), and Interstate battery. Stock exhaust manifolds still in place, but it would breath better with less restrictive headers or machined OEMs. I do not have original engine detail pieces as it didn’t have them on the car when I acquired it (such as air cleaner and valve covers) the plan was to pull the engine and detail it and the engine bay at a later date.
Suspension wise replaced most key pieces and added KYB shocks, additional rear leaf springs, and rear sway bar for much improved handling and balance. Original torsion bars. Some rubber pieces replaced with black polyurethane. All OEM style.
No major components missing, a straight car. All items required for a straight forward restoration/refresh are readily available. It’s the real deal, Mopar big block muscle. Good value/investment for the right person with the time and desire.
Selling as is, cash only. Thanks.
