Classic Car Overview

1970 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle Hardtop For consignment, a 1970 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle hardtop showing 411 miles which are not actual. This baby is riding on 20-inch wheels and is packing an LS under the hood and was the recipient of a frame off restoration. Stripes and hood pins give clues to its racy nature, and youll be cruising in sweet style with this iconic A-body. Exterior A two stage coat of Shadow Gray provides the cloak for this muscle car, augmented by stripes that are not decals, theyre actually painted, and run over the cowl hood and decklid with twin, bold bands of black. Cowl Induction is spelled out on the power bulge, flanking the intake flap and polished trim of the hoods edge. In profile, the wheels take center stage, and they are 20-inch US Mag Wheels, bright chrome and configured as five double spoke rakes from the hub, wrapped in low profile, 45 series tires. In front, the red calipers of the Baer brakes shine through. Theres some action out back too, as one of the most muscular rear profiles is owned by Chevelles, be it the double round tail lights or this singular square assemblies set wide on the chrome bumper with oval chrome tips protruding underneath and the whole back looks like it wants to launch, even when parked. Paint imperfections are mostly centered around the rocker panel and edges, with some unevenness, chipping paint, and touched up chips. Theres also some alignment issue with the hood and water spots on the stripes. Interior Standard black vinyl door panels with column stitched inserts look fantastic and set the stage for the interior which begins with black vinyl bucket seats presenting nicely and a rear bench that looks untouched. In the cockpit, a more modern aftermarket steering wheel fronts a dash that mixes its original plastic shell with modern white faced gauges that include digital readouts in conjunction with white sweeping needles, and theyre backlit in radiant blue. A gap for the radio is under the standard climate panel and the clean textured dash pad continues over to the passenger side. A Hurst shifter is in the center console which is in good condition on top of black loop carpet and rubber mats that are ideal for the car. The headliner on the C-pillars is loose fitting on one side and gone on the other, with white specks on what remains, and the trunk if rough fitted with a carpeted mat surrounding the battery box. Drivetrain Gentlemen, start your engines! In this case, its a 6.0 liter LS2, fuel injected and mated to a T56 6-speed manual transmission, sending power to the 12 bolt axle in back. Red coils dress up the bay and power steering and power brakes are supplied, with front disc and rear drum. Headers get the spent gases moving rearward. Undercarriage Super clean underneath with minimal surface rust and no sign of oil out of place. The dual exhaust finds an H-pipe before barreling through a pair of FlowMaster mufflers on their way to a show stopping exit through chrome tips. A Perfect Launch rear diff cover is observed, and for suspension we have coil springs up front on tubular arms and a 4 link with coil springs out back . Drive-Ability Although the tires are low profile, the wheels raise this car higher than stock configuration and provide a commanding view of the road from the attractive cabin. The LS fires to life and no priming is necessary! The exhaust note is superb, and we shift into first to scoot this gray 70 onto the test loop where it does not disappoint, providing plenty of power, clean shifts, and straight tracking. Handling is excellent as well, though with the higher center of gravity, probably not a slalom contender. Other than the wipers, all functions operate as intended, including the attractive instrument cluster. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. LS swap! LS swap! Seems to be a common mantra these days. Well, this Malibu sport coupe took the advice and the results are spectacular. A well sorted car and a fine mix of some classic Chevelle virtues and tasteful modern touches. If you want to live like a rock star, this rockin muscle car is for you. This generation Chevelle are usually quick sellers here at the mall, so register your interest early! 136370F141583 1-Chevrolet 36-Malibu V8 37-2 Door Hardtop Sport Coupe 0-1970 F-Flint, MI Assy Plant 141583-Sequential Unit Number TRIM TAG ST 70 13637-1970 Malibu 2 Door Hardtop Sport Coupe BDY FL2218066-Flint Body # TR 756-Black Coated Fabric Buckets PNT 75B-Cranberry Red, Black Top Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
