1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS For Sale This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS comes factory-equipped with the 396 big block, backed by an unusually complete paper trail for a car this old the original Fisher Body cowl tag and matching Protect-O-Plate both survive with the vehicle. Titled as original mileage and currently showing 49,044, the car carries records of a restoration performed between 1989 and 1990. Under the hood is the factory-documented 396 (402ci) big block, identified on the Protect-O-Plate as an L34-code engine, now paired with a Muncie 4-speed manual. The engine breathes through a Weiand Stealth intake and Quick Fuel carburetor, fires on an MSD ignition, and exhausts through long-tube headers into Pypes Race Pro mufflers. Out back, the 12-bolt housing has been re-geared to 3.73:1 a step up from the 3.31 Positraction unit documented on the Protect-O-Plate. The car wears its factory Forest Green Metallic paint over a matching dark green vinyl bucket-seat interior, exactly as coded on the cowl tag. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and the driver gets a supplemental Autogage gauge package covering oil pressure, water temperature, and volts, along with a tachometer and shift light. For a Chevelle this age, having both the original cowl tag and Protect-O-Plate on hand is documentation thats genuinely hard to find it gives a buyer real factory backup for the engine and rear axle codes rather than just a sellers word.
