By 1970, the Chevelle had already captured the hearts of Chevy enthusiasts everywhere, and this years significant design and performance changes only deepened that devotion. The 1970 model year introduced an edgier body with a squarer, more aggressive stance - a meaningful departure from the curvier 69 model. Enhancing the SS option, Chevelle buyers saw expanded offerings that came with the legendary SS badge: a choice between 396 or 454 cubic inch V8 powerplants, the dramatic power dome hood, blackout grille, rear bumper insert, and sport wheels wrapped in aggressive wide-oval tires. With the introduction of the 1970 Chevelle SS - and particularly the LS6 - there was no doubt this car would become an enduring legend.

This 70 Chevelle SS is powered by a matching-numbers 454ci/450hp LS6 V8 - the absolute holy grail of American muscle car engines and the most powerful production motor of the entire muscle car era. We acquired this car from a large private collection where it had sat on static display for some time. Upon acquisition, we immediately had the exterior stripped and repainted to bring it to the same standard as the rest of the car. In addition, the motor, heads, and transmission were broken down and resealed, a new clutch was installed, the brakes were replaced all around (including brake lines), and a new master cylinder and brake booster were fitted for confident, modern stopping power. The M22 Rock Crusher heavy-duty 4-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt Positraction rear axle are both date-code correct - exactly what serious LS6 buyers demand.

This LS6 stands apart with its truly unique combination of Black Cherry exterior over a Saddle vinyl bench seat interior. The gleaming fresh paint is set off by crisp white rally stripes running up and over the cowl induction hood. Soft-Ray tinted glass and Firestone Wide Oval tires complete the period-correct curb appeal. Inside, the Saddle seating is complemented by a two-tone Saddle and brown dash.
