1988-1992 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE: The Original Factory Racer

With all the hoopla surrounding the new Camaro 1LE, let's look back at the original.

The story of the ZL1 Camaro, fitted with that rarest of the rare, all-aluminum 427 big-block V-8, is one that has often been told: How only 69 were made, how they exploited the GM option-ordering system, and how they've become the Camaro guy's ultimate Camaro.

Classic Car Overview

This Mulsane Blue 1970 Z/28 Camaro is in incredible condition and certainly has been very well cared for its entire life.  Certified by Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance, the un-modified Z/28 looks to have all its original sheet metal and possibly an older repaint that looks very nice with just a few modest imperfections.  The undercarriage sports the correct red oxide finish and is very neat and tidy.  Chrome and stainless trim are all in excellent condition and have superb fitment.  Powering this beautiful Z/28 is a period-correct 350 cubic-inch V8, which is mated to a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt posi-traction rear axle.  Air breathes in through the factory dual-snorkle air cleaner with chrome lid and exits through the dual exhaust system with polished tips, making all the right sounds.  Inside the cabin is the correct code 711 black vinyl interior that shows extremely well and looks exactly like it did back in 1970.  Additional optional features on this Z/28 are power front disc brakes and power steering.  Front and rear anti-roll bars and the sticky B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires keep the muscle car glued to the road.  Included with the purchase of this Hendrick Performance vehicle, is the rare opportunity for you and up to 3 of your friends to tour and take delivery inside the breath-taking Hendrick Heritage Center.  Stepping inside this private museum, that very few have had the privilege to experience, will take you back in time to when the American muscle car ruled the streets, and show you the story of Rick Hendrick’s heritage and his amazing private collection of rare and high-performance cars.  Don’t miss the chance to own a truly terrific and highly desirable example of a 2nd generation Camaro Z/28 sure to appreciate in the collector car arena!
