VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

1969 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile hippy bus for sale. Ready to drive! Good vibes and good karma in this bus. I bought this bus in 2018 and drove it across America and back in 2019 and then again in 2020! Since then its been garage kept and minimally used. It is time to send it forward to the next adventure!

Check out @1969BUS on Instagram for more photos! https://www.instagram.com/1969BUS

For a look inside the bus see my instagram story here: https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODU5NjkyMTgwMDEwMDM0?story_media_id=2132944565261431499

Before my travels with this bus I did the following work on it:
- Replaced the original 1600 engine with a rebuilt 2100 dual port engine (see pictures). It has about 125 horsepower now.
- new battery
- all new brake lines
- new disc brake kit for front wheels
- new drum brake pads in rear
- replaced tires
- new shocks
- installed an engine oil thermometer (very useful for summer driving)
- installed sound dampening pads throughout the vehicle
- replaced sink faucet and water tank cap
- added a cigarette lighter/charging port
- replaced rear bug screen
- added 2 roof racks (small and large)
- new muffler

Repaired during my travels:
- new accelerator cable (fantastic story about this, remember to ask me!)

Previous upgrades from before my time:
- American flag curtains
- Peace sign
- a decent set of speakers throughout the vehicle and a CD player with AUX input.

The bus boasts a nearly untouched original interior, all lovingly and lightly broken in. Complete with original wood panel ceiling, all of the original Westfalia cabinets, closet with mirror, dining table, ice chest/sink cabinet, and seats. Original vinyl seats. All original glass windows and bug screens.

This sale also includes:
- 7 large plastic storage bins of spare parts
- 3 spare engines ready to be rebuilt or resold
- 2 extra sets of wheels/rims and tires
- 2 or 3 extra mufflers/performance mufflers
- camping gear (Coleman stove, pots and pans)
- two 5 gallon metal gas cans (red vintage style)
- two 7 gallon water jugs
- fishing pole and net
You must take these all these spare parts and all spare engines and all the wheels and tires because I need to clear out my storage space and I am not interested in selling them after selling the bus. Spare parts include seat belts door handles, engine parts, gaskets, replacement light covers, custom built subwoofer, and much more. You will need to bring a friend and an extra van/truck to haul away these extra parts as they wont all fit inside the VW.

As with all old vehicles there are some quirks and things I didnt fix. The odometer, speedometer, and gas gauge dont work. There are some minor rust spots. The brake pedal could be adjusted for height and pressure. The door locks are funky. The original vinyl floor was replaced before my time. Probably a few other things Im forgetting now.

This vehicle has a New York State transferable registration rather than a title. Signing it over to you is basically the same process as signing over the title except its part of the registration card. This has something to do with the old registration/title system from the 60s. You can Google it and read about it. The title is clear, there are no liens/loans etc. It is not a salvage title or anything like that.

If the ad is up its still available. No need to ask.

Please include your phone number in your message so I can call you. I wont respond to anything in your message until we have spoken on the phone first.

Sold as is.
