Classic Car Overview

1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible The Firebird was Pontiacs entrance into the muscle car world and was designed as a pony car to compete with the Ford Mustang. It was first introduced into February 23, 1967 five months after GMs Chevrolet division released the Camaro. This isnt the first time the Firebird name was used as it was originally applied to a concept car in the 1950s. The first generation spanned from 1967 through 1969 and had the characteristic Coke bottle styling and very unique front ends where the chrome bumpers were integrated into the design and would frame the grill. They also received slit taillights which was inspired by the GTO. There was a chance that the Firebird would be a totally different car than it is known as because it was originally supposed to be a two seater sports car. GM, however, feared giving competition to the Corvette so went with the F-body pony car market instead. This 1969 Convertible is a beautifully restored car that has 9,671 miles on it since completion. It comes with a PHS report, some receipts and the original window sticker. The final assembly plant was Lordstown, Ohio and it was delivered to a dealer in Clinton, Michigan. It is painted in its beautiful Matador Red (code 52) paint which has an excellent shine and is paired with a Black power convertible top. It also has a matching convertible top boot. The exterior chrome and stainless trim is in very good shape including the factory door and fender moldings. The glass is all in good shape and it was ordered from the factory with the soft ray tinted windshield. It has a mostly stock looking exterior but now sits on American Racing Torq Thrust wheels with BF Goodrich tires. The car starts up and runs well with a 350 motor under the hood. It has chrome valve covers and a lot of the engine components has the factory style Blue Pontiac paint. The motor was all rebuilt and has a receipt documented that. It got new pistons, rings, cam, lifters, pushrods, etc. A lot of these were factory 3 speed on the column cars but this one was ordered with the turbo 350 hydramatic transmission that shifts smoothly and sends power back to the 10 bolt rear end. Other nice factory features include the power front disc brakes and power steering which makes it a very comfortable driver. The interior is all complete in Black and is in great condition throughout. It has original bucket seats with lap belts sitting to each side of the original console with the correct faux wood trim. Part of the Decor Group package includes the 3 spoke PMD steering wheel. The dash has a very stock layout and features the factory gauges and original AM/FM radio. The trunk of the car has been clearly restored as well and houses the correct spare. This is also where you will find two of the cocktail shakers that were installed in 1969 Firebird Convertibles specifically and acted as counter weights to make up for the missing hood structure. These are very hard to find and you rarely see them in
