Burt Reynolds may have been the star, but it was the black 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that stole the show. There's nothing like seeing that Starlight Black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am emerge from the back of the Bandit's truck.

Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

The Pontiac Firebird was introduced in 1967 as the Pontiac counterpart to Chevrolets Camaro. The Firebird saw similar levels of success and popularity, and has gathered a cult following just the same as the Camaro has today. Pontiac wanted to produce a two-door sports car similar to the Corvette (based on the Pontiac Banshee concept car) but GM was afraid this would cut into the Corvette market. So, the Firebird was born. By 1969, GM was already designing the next generation of the F-body cars, so this would be the last model year for the first-generation Firebird. This 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible sports a white paint job with tasteful silver stripes. The paint is in good condition overall, the best way to describe it is a nice driver quality paint job. Fortunately, this makes it very easy to daily this car without fear of minor scratches. Take it anywhere, park it anywhere, all while having peace of mind that you dont have to worry about your $10,000 paint job being damaged. It sits on a very tasteful set of snowflake-style alloys that give the car an aggressive look while retaining some old school styling elements. Plus, the top goes down for extra fun on those warm summer days! The top itself is in good condition and is perfectly suitable for regular use. The interior is also in nice driver condition, with minimal blemishes and damaged parts. While a few odds and ends could use some attention, you could easily hop in this car and comfortably enjoy your summer weekends. The steering wheel is an aftermarket unit, but it suits the car well and matches the interior. The horn button even has the Pontiac logo on it, for consistency! This wheel fits comfortably in your hands and looks original enough. The seats themselves are in excellent shape with no rips, tears, or other major damage. The dash shows no cracks and most of the gauges appear to be original. Under the hood is a Chevrolet 350 V8. While this appears to have originally had a Pontiac six cylinder, swapping Chevrolet 350s due to availability was common practice for many years. For the buyer wanting to drive this car rather than do a high-quality restoration, the Chevy 350 is the perfect match as it pulls this car along with ease and parts are easy to come by. The engine has headers, dual exhaust, chrome dress-up pieces, and is hooked to a GM TH400 3 speed automatic transmission. This isnt a show car, but it certainly isnt a rot box. It can be used as a fun weekend vehicle with minimal repairs. If youre looking for a first-gen, last year Firebird convertible that you can either enjoy as-is or start a high-quality restoration, look no further! Title: CLEAN DOES IT WORK?
