In 1969 the Catalina received a major restyling with more squared-off sheet metal and rooflines. The coke bottle rear flanks from previous models were now gone. However inner-body structures were retained in the basic 1965 chassis although vent windows were dropped on all models. Catalinas also got a one-inch wheelbase increase to 122. Headrests became standard on all 69 Pontiacs built after January 1. All 1969 GM cars (except the Corvair) got a new locking steering column that would become a Federal requirement starting with the 1970 models. The 1965-70 GM B platform is the fourth highest-selling automobile platform after the Volkswagen Beetle Ford Model T and the Lada Riva.This Catalina combines luxury performance and a touch of style all in one package.
