Classic Car Overview

We at MaxMotive are very excited to present one of the most respected, feared, and most legendary cars to come from the heyday of American muscle. A 1969 Hemi Road Runner. And its black on black. That J in the VIN is the holy grail. It indicates an original Hemi car. The fabled Plymouth Road Runner achieved legendary status because it so accurately nailed the bullseye as to its intended mission. By now you surely know it was to be a bare-bones performance machine devoid of unnecessary trim and accessories, and hence cost. Lighter weight was an appealing by-product. Reaching out to Warner Brothers for the rights to the Road Runner name, cartoon image, and the horn was pure marketing genius that took it over the top. First year sales more than doubled the projections. This example epitomizes the spirit of the Road Runner with the especially desirable factory-correct black-on-black color combination, which strongly emphasizes the all-business nature of the car. So lets get down to business. 426 Hemi. (You may genuflect now.) The original 727 TorqueFlite Automatic. 3.23 rear. Savvy collectors know that the second model year for a new car is a good one to have. The 1968 Road Runner was a smashing success. But the 69 had a full year of development under its belt, and options were available that were not offered in 68. This car has some important ones. The interior features bucket seats, and in between is the attractive wood grain console with the floor shifter. Under the dash is a switch labeled Carb Air. It opens up the Air Grabber hood (N96 code), which takes in air through the hood vents and then through fiberglass duct work underneath. The duct is sealed with rubber to the large unsilenced Coyote Duster air cleaner - race car style - to provide plenty of cool air to the big Hemi for maximum breathing, horsepower, and performance. With 426 cubic inches and two hefty 4 barrels to feed, this is a really good idea. Plus, it just looks very cool with the hood open. A bonus is option code P31 - power windows. The Hemi Road Runner is truly the stuff of muscle car legend, and this one was lovingly restored on a rotisserie as it deserves to be. Redline tires with steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps complete the period-correct, no-nonsense look. Years of parts hunting and painstaking work is done, so you can begin dusting coyotes right now.
