Known as the Gentlemans Muscle Car, the 1969 Plymouth GTX exhibited straight-line dominance and luxury at the same time!  Featuring a standard 375 HP 440 Super Commando V-8, the car could flat out MOVE right off the factory floor!  The hourglass body, a well apportioned interior and 440 cubic inches under the hood combined luxury and performance making the GTX legendary!

The car presented at auction was acquired out of New Ulm, MN by the current owner as a project with the car in pieces and boxes.  The body was partially assembled with the restoration reportedly started out of Colorado.  The engine was reported to have been overhauled but never fired as many things were not attached or included when the car was acquired.

With an understanding of this legendary Mopar B-body, the owner immediately assessed what was needed to complete the restoration and spent the next few years acquiring period correct NOS and used parts for the car.  Any existing parts not deemed worthy were replaced with parts sourced from across the country.  Worthy components were painstakingly restored.

Enlisting the help of a friend and professional mechanic who learned his craft in the 1960s and 70s, the reassembly was started.  The mechanical assembly including the drive train and chassis was done under the watchful eye of The Mechanic.  Correct specs for the car were identified and followed in the process.  It was determined, based on body VIN and Engine Block numbers, the engine is NUMBERS MATCHING to the car.

Though the car was acquired with body panels in primer, additional body work and painting was professionally done by Daves body Shop in Madelia, MN.  Interior upholstery was completed in Tea, SD at Cliff Avenue Upholstery and final assembly saw the following modifications:

     Sound Deadener applied to the floor and tunnel
     Fender Turn Signals were deleted
     Changed the rocker panel white strip to red to match the redline tires
     The B5 Blue interior was changed to black
     15 Wheels were installed
     Changed the 727 TorqueFlite transmission to a 4L60E (Keisler A41) for improved driving performance (a period correct 727 TorqueFlite is available with the car)

The restoration took about 7 years and a binder with various pictures shows progression of the project.  The final product is a worthy addition to any Mopar Collection!
