Classic Car Overview

INTRODUCTION: Rare is an understatement! Only 700 GTX convertibles were produced in 1969, and this is one of just 53 equipped with factory air conditioning. Featured in Muscle Car Review magazine and claimed to have received a rotisserie restoration, this GTX checks all the boxes. Beautifully restored, highly optioned, and incredibly rare, this is one Mopar that stands out from the crowd.

EXTERIOR: This here is a good looking machine! The body panels are absolutely straight and fit beautifully, with no signs of rust or damage showing. Its been repainted in gorgeous Scorch Red, polished to a smooth, glossy finish that really highlights the cars lines. On the 69 models, the lower body was painted black, and this one is accented with the correct red stripe along with matte black performance hood stripes for an aggressive muscle car appearance. The chrome and trim are bright and shiny throughout, while the grille and tail panel both present very well. The windshield has been replaced, and the power convertible top looks excellent. Finishing it all off is one of the best looks you can put on a Mopar: a set of 15x8 Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires, and they look practically new.

INTERIOR: The GTX came with a more upscale interior than the Road Runner, featuring bucket seats and a center console. This one is further enhanced with a very rare six-way adjustable drivers seat. There is woodgrain trim throughout, including the restored steering wheel, adding to the premium feel. It also features a factory tachometer in the dash, while the 8-track player is a unique and desirable option. Down on the floor is good looking carpet with GTX embroidered floor mats, and it still has a complete set of original seat belts. The seats have been reupholstered, while the door panels and dash pad have been replaced, giving the interior a fresh, well restored appearance.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Theres a lot of great stuff packed under the hood of this one. At its core is the correct date-coded 440 Super Commando engine producing 375 horsepower. It retains the proper valve covers, exhaust manifolds, air cleaner, and even date-coded spark plug wires for an authentic appearance, while benefiting from an upgraded Edelbrock carburetor with an electric choke for improved drivability. It also features highly desirable power steering and power brakes. What really puts this one over the top is the factory air conditioning system, which has been serviced and is ready to keep you comfortable. The engine compartment is very complete with a Mopar radiator, correct hoses and clamps, and because of the air conditioning, dual electric fans have been added up front to help keep everything running cool. Both horns are hooked up, the windshield squirters are connected, and it has a reproduction Mopar battery properly secured with a disconnect switch. The components are clean and proper throughout, the engine bay is nicely painted red, and the hidden VIN stamp on the core support along with the original fender tag still being in place further support this cars authenticity.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is finished in glossy red paint, giving it a clean and restored appearance. Its properly detailed with the correct decal, fresh weatherstrip, and trunk mat. It even includes the jack and spare assembly. Best of all, theres still plenty of room for the lawn chairs and cooler so you can pack up and enjoy the next cruise night or car show.

UNDERSIDE: Underneath this GTX appears to be rock solid with clean, dry metal throughout. Its been painted black, giving it a neat and tidy appearance. During the restoration, the suspension and steering systems were completely rebuilt and upgraded with air shocks for an improved ride. The brake system was also rebuilt and recently serviced. The fuel system has been replaced, including the fuel tank. It has a great sound thanks to a dual exhaust system with stainless MagnaFlow mufflers. Looking up at the engine, it is clean and well detailed, featuring a high-torque starter, and the factory casting codes and dates are clearly visible on the side of the block. The 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission is the original VIN # matching unit to this car. A rebuilt driveshaft sends power back to the correct 8 rear end equipped with 3.23 gears.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected, test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for sale.

CONCLUSION: Not only do you have an incredibly enjoyable, good looking convertible to cruise and have fun with, but you also have a true blue chip investment grade Mopar. Its rarity and desirability put it in a different category altogether. With only 53 built, how many survived? You will be very proud knowing youre one of just a select few in the entire world that owns one!
