Classic Car Overview

This is the cream of the crop. A real-deal, 1969 Oldsmobile 442 Hurst/Olds that is not nearly as striking online as it is in person. And as you dig into the details, youre going to love the level of correctness and originality, right down to the numbers-matching, slightly modified 455ci V8. Theres a simple reason why you dont see very many real-deal 69 Hurst/Olds coupes: rarity. There were only 906 produced. Thats because when they were new, the cost difference between a standard 442 hardtop and one of these special muscle cars was almost enough to buy a brand new VW Beetle. So over a half-century later, its quite hard to find a quality example... let alone one that has had less than 4 owners since new (consignor states). This low-owner care means the right investments went into this one. This starts with the quality respray of the special color theme in the 1980s. The Cameo White has a high-quality gloss that attracts attention in a dignified way - exactly how Oldsmobile initially intended. It provides a clean canvas to apply the gold package. It makes this car more aggressive by helping to highlight special performance elements like the twin air scoops of the OAI hood and the tips of the wide rear wing. But because Oldsmobiles also have style, they used this gold to also be more artistic. Thats why the racing stripe goes over the roof (few cars ever did,) and it showcases the curvaceous profile of this Holiday Hardtop. This one even turns the gold up a notch by taking classic American Racing 200S wheels and color-matching them to the gold accents. It gives this coupe a unique look without straying from the classic style of this icon. Well-fitting body panels, pliable weather-stripping, black pinstriping around the gold, complete H/O badging, and beautiful chrome bumpers are all part of a detailed quality you get with well-respected rarity. Inside is more evidence of the right care and investments. The all-black interior has a great muscle car style that also never loses the premium Olds feeling. For example, the front bucket seats were reupholstered using the correct intricate pattern, and the headrests even have a gold streak to coordinate with the exterior. The full package has time machine quality that takes you back to 1969. Its in the details, like the premium wood-like trim, and the way the lights still greet you when you open the door. The factory three-spoke steering wheel is on a tilt column, and it gives you a clear view of the sporty three-round pods that house the instruments - including the large speedo and desirable tic-tic-tach. But your favorite piece of the whole interior is likely going to be the shifter. After all, this is a Hurst machine, you got the iconic His & Hers dual gate unit. The reason why a few people were willing to pay a lot extra for a 1969 Hurst/Olds was that it made them the king of the streets. It was the only intermediate car that broke GMs displacement rule. So while the stock 442 has the 400ci motor, these very special cars had the big 455 cubic-inch V8. This is the numbers-matching unit, and it was carefully rebuilt during its two decades of care. Thats why it has such a clean red style, and you have great details everywhere from the decals to the gasket that seals the motor to the fresh air hood. It fires up eagerly, and the updated dual exhaust gives you a terrific big block tune. And this one was made to be enjoyed with features like the stout but smooth three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, sway bars front & rear, boxed rear arms, power brakes w/discs up front, and a 12-bolt Positraction rear end. This is a rare Olds with an exceptional presentation and a desirable history. Its true muscle car royalty, and its up for grabs. Call today!!!
