Classic Car Overview

West Coast Classics are proud to present a 1969 MGB Mark II 1800cc Convertible restored in a very striking Red Metallic color paint with a Black seats and black carpets interior, a fairly new black soft top, 4 speed manual transmission and chrome wire wheels! This is obviously one very rare and highly desirable example of this classic British sports car - a very nice example of the legendary chrome bumper Mark II MGB roadster! The trunk, floor boards, rocker panels and all the typically rust prone areas are solid and the chrome is all excellent, the bright stainless trim along the flanks doesnt allow for any sloppy panel alignment and the body is impressively straight all around. The Red Metallic color paint is in very good condition with only minor imperfections noticeable upon very close inspection. The interior is also very good and mostly original and still quite lovely Smiths gauges to enhance its old world flavor. The soft top is also very good with a crystal clear rear window. The chrome wire wheels are also fairly new as are the chrome bumpers and grille. The car will also be sold with its original spare wheel and mallet, a handbook and and shop manuals. The engine purrs quietly under the hood and the 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears. The temperature always remains cool and there are no noticeable oil leaks. The car has been upgraded with a carburetor Weber conversion kit, electronic ignition, and power assisted brakes. The cars recent service history includes having a new clutch master and slave cylinder and new brake master cylinder installed along with all new fabricated lines for the brake booster/servo, all new spark plugs, rebuilt carburetor, new fuel pump, electronic ignition installed, replaced head gasket, replaced 2 freeze plugs, and new coil. Records available. The simple uncluttered lines of the early MGBs were never improved by later revisions (the MGB line survived until 1980) and it is still these early chrome bumper models, which were a sturdy, straight forward sports car with features that will fascinate enthusiasts for decades to come, that are most sought after by MG enthusiasts and collectors. There was no denying the appeal of the MGB which in almost all respects; performance, comfort, space and convenience was a distinct improvement on its predecessor, the MGA and despite of little or no profits being returned to British Leyland, the model enjoyed record sales for the company.
