VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

1969 Jaguar XKE Roadster For consignment shades of Austin Powers in the form of this very recognizable British Automobile, the XKE Jaguar. With an older restoration and a folder full of service receipts, its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, this car runs perfectly, and looks awesome! An honest, original, drivers car! Exterior Jaguar motors nailed it when they penned this design which utilizes a long bulbous bonnet, curvaceous fenders which wrap chrome wire knockoff wheels, and a curved to a pinched boot, framed by a chrome wrap around bumper. Primrose, (pale yellow), is the hue on the bodyPaint on this car is presenting nicely but upon closer inspection shows surface rusted chip offs, rust bubbling, inclusions, along with cracks and a few minor runs in the finish. Chrome and badging as well as trim is all very nice but does have some slight haziness to the chrome. The black canvas convertible top shows some color fading and a few minor tears on the passenger side and presents with a clear plastic window. This top is manually operated and can be raised or lowered with one person. Rounding out the exterior are lightly patinaed chrome wire knock off wheels wrapped in Pirelli 205/70R15 blackwall rubber. Interior Yards of black leather cover the low back bomber style bucket seats, door panels, and dash top, and its all very nice. The dash is peppered with numerous Smiths gauges, and a full lineup of toggle switches. An original wood steering wheel fronts the dash, and the factory radio has been replaced with a modern Alpine AM/FM/CD unit. Black carpet in very nice condition is covering the floor and small rear stowage area. The trunk is nearly perfect and includes a tonneau cover which is original to this car. Drivetrain A flip forward of the bonnet reveals some of true British handiwork in the form of a 4.2 liter DOHC Inline 6-cylinder, complete with 3 2-barrel SU carburetors. Have no fear as the original intake manifold and Stromberg carbs are included with the purchase. The original 4-speed manual transmission is attached and sends power to a 3.54 geared rear axle. A fine patina covers the engine, its bay and the underside of the bonnet, otherwise all is looking good. Undercarriage All clean with a veritable sea of black rustproofing and undercoating for the bottom side. We see an independent torsion bar front suspension working with a 4 coilover shocks on the independent rear set up. Disc brakes now on all 4 corners and a stainless-steel dual exhaust system handles the exhale with ease. No structural problems, and a very sturdy and clean frame. Drive-Ability As expected, because it has been well maintained and fully documented, this car started and ran flawlessly. It had a nice throaty exhaust sound, and all the controls worked. Typical of a Jaguar, the power comes with added safety in the form of bias free disc brakes all around. Nice driver and fantastic handling. A beautiful example indeed, all wrapped up in Primrose paint and black leather which retains their luster. A patinad engine bay, with added power, great suspension, and 4-wheel disc brakes. A nice find if you are in the market for some shag-a-licious Jaguar iconic British design prior to the rubber bumper era.
