Hatchback Car for sale by Stephen Becker Automotive Group in Sugar Hill, Georgia 30518
Following in the tradition of previous Ford factory built Mustang race cars like the 1968 Cobra Jet, the Boss 429 and the FR500S Mustang Challenge car, Ford Racing and AAI started work on a production run of 50 Cobra Jet Mustangs in January 2010. Ford Racing built 50 Cobra Jet Mustangs at Ford vendor facilities.
One thing that the crew at Volo Auto Museum understands is that context is everything. They have gone the extra mile to display each movie car with memorabilia and signage that brings the scene to life. The museum features actual movie props such as Tom Cruise's racing seat from Days Of Thunder.
Classic Car Overview
A rare piece of racing design history, the Talladega was a champion warrior of the Aerocar Wars period of Nascar. The racing and performance-oriented Ford Talladega is based on the Ford Torino Cobra two-door SportsRoof. According to Ford advertising of the period, "Heading the pack to the Performance Corner in your dealership is the exotic new aerodynamic-design Torino Talladega...an exciting development of the 1968 NASCAR and USAC Champion Torino. The Talledega's aerodynamic design features, developed after extensive high-speed wind tunnel and track testing, improve performance during high-speed operation by reducing drag and front end lift."
The Talladega won the 1969 NASCAR Manufacturers Championship and David Pearson won the Driver’s Championship while driving the Talladega with Richard Petty taking second that year also driving a Talladega in his year driving for Ford.
Included in the impressive lineup of factory standard features is a 428-cid, 335-hp Cobra Jet engine (non-Ram Air) that is mated to a SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic transmission. Further standards on the Talladega consists of cast aluminum valve covers, engine oil cooler, extra-cooling package, 55-ampere alternator, heavy-duty battery, power steering, power front disc brakes, Argent Styled Steel Wheels with chrome trim rings, competition suspension with ultra-heavy-duty front and rear springs and shock absorbers, extra-heavy-duty stabilizer bar, staggered rear shock absorber arrangement with one rear shock ahead of and the other behind the rear axle, special aerodynamic-design grille, hood, fender and front bumper layout, non-gloss “racing black” hood and lower rear deck panel, AM radio, 3.25:1 ratio non-locking rear axle and special Talladega badging as seen on the interior door trim panels.
