Classic Car Overview
1969 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible - (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this vehicle on a website other than our main website, its possible that only some of our many photographs of this car are presented due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the photographs, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.) Fords Galaxie made a slight switch in size, and style when the Fourth Generation Galaxies hit dealer showrooms. The fourth generation Galaxie, became a bit bigger and more formal looking than past generations. The switch came at a time when government regulations would start affecting design, and engine output thanks to emissions equipment. This car left the Wayne Michigan assembly plant just before emissions system components were standard/required on the 302s. At some point, someone decided that a blue on blue Galaxie was a little too much blue for one vehicle. This cars original color of Medium Blue Metallic (code Q) has been coated in an Ivory color, which provides a nice contrast to the blue trim on the inside of the car. Trim and brightwork is all in very good condition, and the chrome bumpers show very well. Open the large doors and it is immediately evident that the blue trimmed interior (code 6B) is inviting and comfortable. The instrument binnacle has all the necessary buttons, switches, and gauges right in front of, and angled at the driver. Maybe Ford engineers were tired of passengers changing their radio stations - if you look closely at our photos, you will see that the original Philco radio is to left of the speedometer. Way out of any passengers reach! An aftermarket Alpine radio was added at some point in this cars history. Blue vinyl covered bench seats take up most of the space in the expansive interior, and being such an important part of the interior, its great to see that theyre in great shape. Under the hood is a 302ci V8 mated to a C4 automatic transmission. The trusty Windsor 302 in this car isnt the most powerful Ford V8 in the Galaxie but it runs great, and provides plenty of power to move this big Ford down the road.
